Honorary Board Members Margot Cohen, Kathy D Amour, Paula Lederkramer, Janet Ratner A Letter from the president Dear Members: Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely summer. I want to take a moment to thank Pat Roaldsen for her dedication and fantastic work with our member workshops. I am sorry to see her leave her position, but hope to continue to learn from her. It s that time of year again, membership renewal is upon us. We ask that you please complete the membership application contained in this issue and turn it into Joni Foote by October 1 st. We have a lot of great events coming up this fall. Bus trips, classes, the fourth edition of Quilt the Day Away, to name a few. Make sure you sign up on time to claim your spot. 3 By the Sea A few short weeks ago the Fab 5 plus 1 formed a committee committed to making the LIQS 2018 show a reality. We drew up a list of committees that were needed and A list of possible suspects to corale into helping us. We received calsl with offers to help from new members, and seasoned Old Timers (no offense but you know who you are). Former show chairpeople who know better than anyone else the task ahead, offered their help, support, wisdom and encouragement. Many have taken on jobs for Even the folks we approached with requests responded with a Sure! How do I do it? Now, because of the many volunteers, we have a venue, a raffle quilt in the works, raffle books and show pins ordered, flyers designed and printed, and the job looks a lot more manageable than it did a short time ago. Our membership is 250 quilters and it is our hope that you will all become a part of the show. Yes! We know that you will sell your chance books, and sign up for 2 hours at the show, but this year we want as many of you as possible to consider doing a little more. Maybe a few extra hours of volunteer time at the show, or selling some extra raffles. Maybe your extra will be to make, or join with friends to make, a basket for the Chinese auction. Maybe your extra will be to bring a carful of friends to Point Lookout for the show. Whatever you decide to do we want you to know that we will notice your efforts and to the best of our ability we will thank you for those efforts. Pat, June, Marie, Kate and Lois plus Mush Chance books will be available for pick up at the September and October meetings! If you cannot be at these meetings, please ask a friend to collect yours. 3.
4 Below we have listed the heads of all the show committees. Committees that are starred are those which will be in need of volunteers. Joyce Fischer s committee Judging which involves helping the judges and delivering the judged quilts to be hung on the Friday before the show will not count as two hours of volunteer work.
