In some instances the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality. 2 Section II - Installation Procedures A. Check kit for contents 1. Check kit for content and damage. (Fig. A1) B. Vehicle preparation 1. Disconnect battery negative terminal. Switch Light Guide Harness 2. Apply protective covering to car. C. Remove center console EXTENDED CONSOLE / X-RUNNER 1. Remove console fasteners. i. Remove pad at bottom of storage bin. (Fig. C1) LED Modules Fig. 1A Fig. A1 Cup Holder Attachment ii. Remove (2) 10 mm bolts. (Fig. C2) 2. Remove Shift knob. i. Turn counter clockwise to unscrew. (Fig. C3) Fig. C1 Fig. C2 3. Remove shift bezel. Fig. C3 Fig. C4 i. Use panel safe tool. ii. Carefully pry around edges of shift bezel. (Fig. C4) iii. Firmly lift bezel straight up. (Fig. C5) 4. Remove cup holder. ( Not in in X-Runner) i. Remove cup divider (not shown). ii Push rear wall of cup holder forward while lifting. (Fig. C6) 5. Remove (4) screws located around shifter. 3 Section II - Installation Procedures 8. Install Storage Box Lights. i. Remove sound dampening pad. (Fig. C11) ii. Cut out Tacoma long console storage box template. Fig. C11 iii. Align template with lower edge and center. (Fig. C12) iv. Use a punch/scribe to mark the center of the holes to be drilled. (optional) v. Drill pilot holes with 1/8 drill bit. Fig. C12 Fig. C13 vi. Drill the lamp hole with a 9/32 drill bit. (Fig. C13) vii. De-burr holes with de-burring tool. 9. Insert lens from inside of storage box. (Fig. C14) 10.From the back of the storage box, install the LEDʼs onto the lenses. Press firmly while holding the Lens from the inside. (Fig. C15) 11. Secure with foam pad. (Fig. C16) 12. 4 Section II - Installation Procedures SHORT CONSOLE 1. Remove console fasteners. i. Remove rear bolt cover pad. (Fig. C18) Fig. C19 ii. Remove (1) 10 mm bolt under pad. iii. Remove storage bin cover pad. (Fig. C19) Fig. C18 iv. Remove 10 mm bolt under pad. v. Remove (1) captive screw on lower right side of console. (Fig. C20) 2. Remove coin tray. Fig. C21 i. Grasp firmly, pull towards rear. (Fig. C21) 3. Remove shift knob. Fig. C20 i. Turn knob counter clockwise. 4. Place shift in neutral. i. Set parking brake. ii. Use panel safe tool. iii. Remove cover. iv. Depress interlock and place sifter in N position. (Fig. C22) 5. Pull console back while lifting rear. (Fig. C23) Fig. C22 B A Fig. C23 D. Install Cup Holder Lights LONG CONSOLE (Except X-Runner) 1. Place Cup holder on work bench as shown. (Fig. D1) 2. Align template Long console cup holder to cup holder and hold in place. Fig. D1 Fig. D2 i. Use punch or scribe to mark where to drill. Leave rubber insert in place. (Fig D2) 3. Drill Lamp hole. i. Drill pilot holes with 1/8 drill bit. Allow bit to penetrate rubber insert. (Fig. D3-4) ii. Drill the lamp hole with a 9/32 drill bit. iii. De-burr holes with de-burring tool. (Fig. D5) SHORT CONSOLE 7. Place cup holder on workbench. Fig. D3 Fig. D4 8. Attach template Tacoma short console cup holder to cup holder with adhesive tape. i. Use punch or scribe to mark where to drill. (Fig. D6) Fig. D6 Fig. D5 9. Follow procedure D3-D5. Fig. D8 10. Use adhesive pad to secure wires. Install Harness CAUTION: Secure harness with pads and cable ties as needed, keep harness from touching hot or moving objects. 1. Lay out harness noting where each lead goes. (Fig F1) i. Place foam pad on back side of console and tie wrap to OEM harness. 6. Thread power lead up to previously removed A.C. control Panel. i. Attach black lead on harness to wt/blk wire (-) on vehicle. Reinstall rear half of center console. 10.Reinstall (4) screws in center console. (Fig. F8) 11. Reinstall (2) 10 mm bolts. (Fig. F9) G. Install Cup Holder LONG CONSOLE ONLY 1. Connect cup holder power lead. (Fig. G1) 2. Reinsert cup holder placing the side with the LEDs in first. (Fig. G2) Fig. G2 i. Not applicable to BASE VERSION. ii. Be careful not to strike the LEDs on the center console while inserting. Fig. G1 iii. On BASE VERSION cup holder lead is attached as console is reinstalled. 7 TOYOTA TACOMA INTERIOR LIGHT UPGRADE Section II - Installation Procedure H. Install Light Modules 1. Install Driver side Light Module. 2. Locate attachment location indicated by arrow. (Fig. H1) 3. Clean surface to remove and wax. Fig H1 i. Wipe application area clean with alcohol and a clean no-scratch cloth.(fig. H2) ii. Dry the installation area using a clean, dry, lint free cloth. 4. Using the pull tab remove the tape liner from the back of the switch plate. (Fig. H3) i. Avaiod finger contact with thte adhesive surface. ii. Press module firmly against surface. Fig. H2 Fig. H3 5. Secure module with screws. (Fig. H4) 6. Secure pigtail with foam pad. (Fig. H5) Fig. H4 Fig. H5 7. Install passenger side Light Module. Fig. I7H7 8.Locatte attachemnt location indicated by arrow. 8 Section II - Installation Procedures I. Install power Switch SHORT CONSOLE 1. Drill hole for switch. i. Cut out enclosed paper Tacoma short console switch marking template. ii. Place template so hole drilled will be oriented as pictured. iii. Place template in area indicated. Use a punch or scribe to mark center of the hole to be drilled. (Fig. I1) iv. Using a 1/2 drill bit (Unibit or step drill is highly recommended), drill the switch hole. (Fig. I2) 2. Clean console surface to remove grease and wax. i. Wipe the application area clean with alcohol and a clean no-scratch cloth ii. Dry the installation area using a clean, dry, lint free cloth. 3. Insert switch bezel into switch plate.(fig. I3)) 4. Using the pull-tab, remove the tape liner from the back of the switch plate.(fig. I4) i. Avoid finger contact with the adhesive surface. 5. Using the bezel as a guide, install switch plate/ bezel into the previously drilled 1/2 hole. i. Align the printing ILLUMINATION square to the console. (Fig. I5) ii. once aligned, press down firmly to adhere tape. 6. Install Sleeve to bezel. i. The white ink end of the sleeve must be installed against the console. (FIG. 9 Section II - Installation Procedures 7. Install switch to bezel as shown. (FIG. I7) i. Turn switch clockwise to tighten. ii. Be careful not to over tighten as this will over ride the threads on the switch. If this happens simply retighten being careful not to over tighten. Fig. I7 iii. Push button into bezel pressing to engage. X-RUNNER CONSOLE 1. Drill hole for switch. i. Cut out enclosed paper Tacoma X-Runner template. ii. Place template in area indicated. Use a punch or scribe to mark center of the hole to be drilled. (Fig. I8) iii. Using a 1/2 drill bit (Unibit or step drill is highly recommended), drill the switch hole. (Fig. I9) 2. Align bezel as shown. (Fig. I10 3. Follow steps I2-I7 4. Secure with foam pad. (Fig. I11) LONG CONSOLE 1. Drill hole for switch. i. Cut out enclosed paper Tacoma long console switch marking template. 10 Section II - Installation Procedures J. CENTER CONSOLE 1. Attach harness to switch. (Fig. J1) i. Connect wires according to letter printed on leads. (Fig. J2) ii. Reinstall center console. (Fig. J3) Fig. J1 M. Post Installation 1. Reinstall interior. 2. Re-attach negative battery terminal, torque to 36 inch pounds.. Cycle test the system with the key in the ACC or ON position. The cycle may start from any step below but should cycle in this order. Fig. J2 i. All lights off. ii. Cup holder lights on only. iii. All lights on. iv. Interior Light on only. v. Back to step i. 4. 11 Section III - Functional Verification Section III Functional verification Check: Single Unoperational Module Look for: Full engagement of affected LED module to LED wire harness pigtail connector. No Operational Modules Full engagement of all LED module to LED wire harness pigtail connectors. Power connection. Ground connection Switch connections Blown light kit fuse. (2 amp located under center console) Blown shift console illumination fuse (see vehicle owners manual for amperage and location.)
