1 REPLACEMENT TARP for SRT-2 SPOOL ROLL TARP NOTICE TO INSTALLER: Even if familiar with product, read instructions prior to installation as improvements may be made without notice. Always handle components with care. If you have problems or questions call customer service. When done, these instructions must be given to the consumer. Read these instructions in conjunction with SRT-2 Spool Roll Tarp Owner s Manual (available from: agricover.com). Review SRT-2 installation, operation and safety precautions before proceeding. 2 PREPARATION TOOLS NEEDED (2) 1/2 Wrenches (1) Drill with 7/32 drill bit and #3 Phillips drive bit (1) Hammer (1) Protective eyewear 1: REMOVING OLD TARP A. Roll tarp open and release tension on ratchets then remove cables. B. Disconnect crank handle from tarp tube or power source then electric motor from tarp tube. NOTE: For tarp motor, disconnect power source first. C. Remove tarp roll from box. Place tarp roll on flat clean work area and unroll tarp. D. Remove clevis and cotter pins holding PVC spacer at each end of tube. Save pins later. E. Spools and springs are marked left (L) and right (R). Before removing spools and springs, record their orientation at each tube end for reassembly later. F. Mark the spring tab end that engages the spool for reassembly later. G. Remove spools, springs and rubber rings. Clean inside of spools thoroughly and apply ample all purpose grease for reassembly later. 3 1: REMOVING OLD TARP (Continued) H. The tarp is riveted to roll tube and stationary tube. Locate rivet at each end of tubes. Drill rivets out with 7/32 drill bit (avoid reaming holes). Drill out center of drive rivet with 7/32 bit I. On stationary tube, remove 2 screws. Save to reinstall later. Slide both tubes out of tarp. Clean off ends of roll tube where spools turn. 4 2: INSTALLING REPLACEMENT TARP A. On clean floor, lay tarp out flat with rope and exterior side facing up, hemmed edges and pocket facing down. Align front end of roll tube at rear on rope side of tarp. Align channel on roll tube with rope and slide tube onto tarp rope. Ensure rope is fully engaged in channel all along tube. At one end of roll tube align rivet hole in tarp with rivet hole in tube. Insert black drive rivet into hole, ensure it is fully seated and set with hammer. At other end, pull tarp by hand to stretch it until holes on tube and tarp line up. Insert black drive rivet into hole, ensure it is fully seated and set with hammer. C. Slide 1 stationary tube into small pocket of tarp. Repeat hole alignment and riveting procedure using silver drive rivets and set rivets with hammer. 5 2: INSTALLING REPLACEMENT TARP (Continued) D. Install clean/greased spool with spring and rubber ring to correct ends of roll tube according to markings made during Steps 1E and 1F. NOTE: During left spool (L) assembly, turn spool counterclockwise about 1 while pushing until spring tab engages in tube. For right spool (R), turn spool clockwise about 1 while pushing until it engages in tube. E. Slide PVC spacer on tube, (holes will align only if spools are fully engaged) insert clevis pin and secure with cotter pin. On crank handle tarp, insert clevis pin and secure with cotter pin at end of handle. On motor tarp, insert clevis pin and secure with cotter pin at end of motor. 6 2: INSTALLING REPLACEMENT TARP (Continued) F. Hand roll tarp to the open position, large tube to small tube. Lift rolled tarp on box with tarp stops, center it from front to back. Place small tarp tube in tarp stops and secure with pins. Hand roll tarp over bows and end caps to its closed position. Ensure tarp is centered from front to back on closed side. G. Attach barrel end of cable to barrel groove on spool. Wrap cable around spool grooves up to last full wrap, let ball end of cable hang down next to box wall and attach it to ratchet strap hook. 7 2: INSTALLING REPLACEMENT TARP (Continued) H. Reattach crank handle or tarp motor to roll tube. Secure with clevis pin and cotter pin. Check tracking angle of cables. To set cables, loosen bolts on the ratchets, set each ratchet to hold each cable out 1/4 then tighten ratchet bolts. This ensures cables follow grooves on spools when operating tarp. Hold out 1/4 IMPORTANT ADJUSTING OF RATCHETS IS FOR SET-UP ONLY! RELEASING OF RATCHETS MAY CAUSE IMPROPER TENSIONING OF TARP. Hold out 1/4 I. Set cable tension with ratchets. Watch the tensioning channel on side of spool, turn as ratchet applies tension. Proper tension is achieved when tension channel is level at bottom. NOTE: For initial installation of a new tarp, tighten ratchet two additional clicks beyond level. Roll tarp open and closed several times. Check the tensioning channel, it should settle back to its level position. Approximate position of tension channel before applying tension with ratchet Tensioning channel must be level at bottom position for proper tension Ratchet must be in locked down position to hold tension. Set proper tension and leave it. Do not release tension to operate tarp system. 7

8 2: INSTALLING REPLACEMENT TARP (Continued) J. Reinstall both stationary tube screws removed earlier. Check general operation of tarp system and ensure cables track in grooves on spools. Make final adjustments if needed. Self drilling fastener Standard kit Spacer Stainless steel fastener For stainless steel kits, drill 1/8 pilot holes, then use spacer with self drilling fastener and turn it into tube.
