Chris Elroy Stricklin is a combat-proven Air Force Leader. His unique range of experience combines service as a USAF Thunderbird, multiple N.A.T.O. assignments, White House and DARPA fellowships, and command-experience in the United States Air Force. He brings rich experience in leading, management, negotiations, continuous improvement and positive change as a corporate keynote speaker. In addition, Stricklin s military tenure includes Pentagon-level management of critical Air Force resources valued at $840B, Stricklin is also a Certified Manager with degrees in Economics, Financial Planning, Strategic Studies and Operational Art and Science. Throughout his Air Force career, he has flown combat sorties over both Iraq and Afghanistan and logged more than 50 Ground-Combat convoys throughout Afghanistan. During his time working for N.A.T.O., he lead the effort to defend against terrorism and served as lead American negotiator for a hijacked Turkish Airliner (Flight 1476) which ended safely with the hijacker apologizing to the passengers as he deplaned. Elroy s inspiration for writing began with the publication of his first work: Stories Around the Table: Laughter, Wisdom, and Strength in Military Life.

2 Wednesday, February 21, :30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. CRISTIAN BARCAN: Vinyl Institute Update The Vinyl Institute (VI) represents manufacturers of vinyl resins/compounds, vinyl additives, modifiers and packaging materials and advocates the industry value in responsible manufacture, life cycle management and value to society. Cristian Barcan will present updates on new and ongoing VI initiatives and how AAMA members can be involved. Cristian Barcan joined The Vinyl Institute (VI) in 2015 as the VP of Sustainability and Industry Affairs. Cristian brings with him two decades of experience in the chemical industry, with proven success in developing sustainability related business models for a wide range of products. Prior to VI, he served as Vice President of Business Development at UL's Information and Insights division (UL). Cristian also spent 18 years with BASF in a number of senior level positions, most recently as Head of Applied Sustainability for BASF Nutrition and Health North America, South America and Asia Pacific. During that time, he developed a service package that helps consumer brands create and market more sustainable goods. Cristian introduced BASF as a core member of The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) and continues to engage with TSC on behalf of VI. He is also a speaker and panel participant at a number of global events including Sustainable Brands. In his current role at The Vinyl Institute, Cristian Barcan is responsible for leading the organization s overall campaign to advance the vinyl industry's sustainability commitment and progress, and build positive relationships with key influencers. Cristian serves also as the Executive Director of the Vinyl Business & Sustainability Council. The Vinyl Business & Sustainability Council (VBSC) is the subject matter leader on sustainability issues and related technical, communications, and advocacy activities pertaining to the vinyl industry in North America.

The technical efforts have encompassed model code development, state and local code adoptions, industry research, standards development both within and outside DASMA, and over 100 published technical data sheets, while promoting the DASMA mission to his many contacts throughout the country. Joe holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Cleveland State University, and is a registered professional engineer with 17 years of design experience prior to his position with DASMA.

FIONA SOLOMON: Sustainability Standards & Certification in Raw Materials Supply Chains Sustainability programs have been developing strongly over the last 20 years in a range of sectors. Their initial focus was the production of agricultural consumer-facing products and have increasingly moved into areas such as minerals and metals, supply chain due diligence, and B2B initiatives for a range of sustainability challenges. During the 1 hour session, it is proposed to cover: The role sustainability standards are playing in impacting sourcing and production across a range of natural resources sectors The business case for sustainability certification programs in general The relationship between performance standards and traceability/chain of custody standards The role of data and assurance in innovative sustainability certification programs The emergence of sustainability standards in precious and industrial metals Case study of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative breaking new ground on issues such as primary and recycled production and material stewardship Going beyond aluminium the role of harmonisation across programs and future consideration of expansion of ASI s scope Applying circular resource thinking in manufacturing supply chains and how programs like ASI can create shared platforms for engagement and implementation Fiona is the Chief Executive Officer of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), which she joined in March 2015 with the responsibility for leading the development and implementation of ASI. Her career has specialised in building new and innovative initiatives in mineral supply chains over more than twenty years. She was previously Director Standards Development at the Responsible Jewellery Council from 2007 to 2015, where she developed a certification program for gold, diamonds and platinum group metals which has been adopted by more than 1000 companies across the supply chain from mine to retail. She has served as a Board Member of the ISEAL Alliance and a founding member of the OECD s Multi-Stakeholder Steering Group for responsible mineral supply chains. From 1997, Fiona worked for ten years at Australia s CSIRO, leading research into mining and sustainability, and was also seconded to WWF to manage a multi-stakeholder project on the feasibility of mine-site certification. She has a Bachelors degree (Hons 1) in mechanical engineering and a PhD in philosophy of technology, both from the University of Queensland.

A large part of her job is maintaining and growing AAMA s social media presence, including the association s go-to-resource Twitter account, several channels on LinkedIn, a colorful Instagram account and more. She is always available to AAMA members who have questions about any social media platform. Meryl is also a freelance writer and has had bylines in publications like Paste Magazine, Apartment Therapy, The Billfold and many others. Prior to AAMA, she worked in Groupon s editorial department and as a newspaper reporter. She has a journalism degree from Muskingum University. Today, she works from her home in Columbus, OH and plays roller derby under the name Feral Streep in her spare time.
