Romina Portas (Candidate for VP) Aspect (2016-present) ConocoPhillips ( ) Total E&P (2008) MSc, Geology, University of Oklahoma (2009) BSc, Geophysical Engineering, Simon Bolivar University (2006) DGS, AAPG, SEG, SEPM, HGS, GSH I have always enjoyed being involved with geoscience organizations, not only as a member, but as a volunteer. All throughout college, I was an officer of AAPG and SEG student chapters. The educational benefits and the community feeling are invaluable. After I graduated and became a professional, I wanted to continue to collaborate with these organizations that give us so much, I was the regional coordinator for AAPG s Imperial Barrel Award program for the Latin American region for 6 years, building the program from scratch in that region. I have also being closely involved with AAPG s Young Professionals. To become an officer of DSG would give me the opportunity to support Denver s geophysical community and to provide relevant educational and technological opportunities to all the members in the monthly luncheons and short courses.
Nick Grenfell (Candidate for VP) Sterling Seismic Services-Denver (2006-Present) BS Geology, University of Montana, 2006 DGS, SEG, AAPG, PBGS (Permian Basin Geophysical Societ), GSP (Geophysical Society of Pittsburgh) My work passion is in geophysics, but my ultimate passion is being part of societies as well as Non-Profits. I have served on boards including KIND (Kinds in Need of Dentistry), MMD (Minds Matter Denver), and KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program). Over the past 8 years, I have learned many new traits which I believe would be a major benefit to the DGS. I have been the director of numerous golf events, night gala's, casino nights, and social happy hours. I strive in creating events that benefit the organizations. I have learned and developed many different marketing strategies as well as gained communication interaction experience. These have helped build large events that are extremely profitable. We have had net gains of 60K in golf events. We have had 100K black-tie events. I want to be a part of the DGS to give my experience, knowledge, and connections I have in Denver to you (DGS family). I have always wanted to play a bigger role in the DGS, but I also wanted to develop relationships within the industry. I feel now is the time where we would both benefit.
Kelsey Kidd (Candidate for Secretary) FairfieldNodal, Denver, CO ( ) Nomac Services, Denver, CO ( ) BS Geology, Western Kentucky University MHI Sales Training, Miller Hieman Group Society of Professional Geophysicists (2012 to Present) Denver Geophysical Society (2012 to Present) American Institute of Professional Geologists (2014 to Present) Rocky Mountain Association on Geologists (2015 to Present) Emerging Professionals International Committee EPIC/SEG (2016 to Present) Society of Exploration Geophysicists (2012 to Present) Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (2016 to Present) Young Professionals in Energy, Denver (2015 to Present) Thank you so much for considering me for the role of secretary for DGS. I believe that I am a good candidate for this position because I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part if DGS and the continuing education /networking it has provided for me. I would like to help the DGS continue to help people like it has helped me. I am well organized and I think I could help come up with some good ideas for the DGS this year! I really believe that it is important to have a strong oil and gas community, especially during these rough times, and I would love the opportunity to help you guys keep it up!
Carrie Louden (Candidate For Secretary) GLOBAL GEOPHYSICAL SERVICES (2013 to 2015) SCHLUMBERGER (1997 to 2013) ARCTIC GEOSCIENCE INC. (1995 to 1997) ATLANTIC RICHFIELD COMPANY / ARCO ALASKA INC., Anchorage, AK (1989 to 1994) Ph.D., Geophysics, University of Minnesota; 1990 Dissertation: Analysis and Interpretation of Surface Waves Recorded on the Central Minnesota Seismic Array B. S., Geology, University of Wisconsin Eau Claire; 1984 Minor in Physics AAPG SEG Geophysical Society of Alaska Past Officer ( ) of the Geophysical Society of Alaska, duties included primary fundraiser for 2 years for the society s scholarship fund and organizing the monthly speakers. I am an experienced Oil and Gas professional who has worked worldwide. My career started in Alaska with ARCO but most of my 25+ years have been with service companies. In addition to Alaska, I have taken assignments in Scotland, England, Houston and Denver. I ve had opportunities via those assignments to also spend time in Russia, North Africa and Nigeria. I have been Denver based since DGS is one of the best local geophysical societies that I ve had the opportunity to be a part of. They have strong support across the oil and gas industry with outstanding events such as the 3D symposium and monthly meetings that bring exposure to emerging technologies, case studies, etc. I look forward to being a part of the board if elected and contributing my time and expertise to keep DGS thriving.
Rachel Stocking Olson 2017 Editor Candidate Rachel Stocking Olson is a sales representative for ESG Solutions and Spectraseis, Inc. The two microseismic companies merged in October 2015, offering downhole and surface microseismic monitoring. Ms. Olson is based out of Denver, CO and handles accounts for the Rockies region. She has 10+ years experience in marketing, public relations, and sales. Ms. Olson is currently serving on the board of the Denver Geophysical Society (DGS) as Secretary and is running for the 2017 Editor position. She sees a need to transform the editor role into one that also encompasses marketing. With the ExCom team, she plans to help revamp The Record with a new look and more content. She also plans on developing a marketing strategy to help bring in more advertising money and ensure that advertisers get the most from their advertising spend. Sue Jackson (Candidate for Treasurer) Colorado School of Mines ( Present) Impact Geo Consulting ( ) Ascend Geo ( ) ION Geophysical ( and ) Landmark ( ) Anadarko (UPRC Denver) ( ) BS Geology, University of Colorado, 1981 MS Education, University of Colorado, 1997 DGS, SEG, EAGE, RMAG, AAPG I am active in DGS because I believe the strength of our professional organizations relies on active participation and volunteer efforts. I m very grateful for the opportunity to serve as Treasurer for DGS this past year, and I appreciate your consideration as a candidate for a second term. It s a privilege to use my skills to assist the financial, educational and promotional needs of DGS. My efforts have improved the budget reporting process to gain clarity for strategic decision-making, and the new budgetary practices I ve initiated enable us to manage costs more effectively. These new budget tools help us plan proactively for the future in our challenging environment. My year
as Treasurer has given me valuable insights, and my optimism and enthusiasm are fundamental to my commitment to serve the expectations of DGS members. I have strong relationships in the local, national and international geoscience community with experience as a geophysicist in oil and gas exploration, as a service provider, as an independent consultant and now as an academic research consortium manager at Mines. I am well-positioned to inspire students and recent graduates to become more involved and help build a successful future for DGS. It would be a privilege to continue to serve you in the role of DGS Treasurer.
