1 Dear NACo Members and Invited Guests, I am writing to cordially invite you to the annual Justice and Public Safety (JPS) Symposium scheduled for January 25-28, 2012 in Fulton County, Georgia (Atlanta). Hosted by Fulton County Chairman John Eaves, the 2012 JPS Symposium will actively explore and profile strategies for safely lowering jail and juvenile detention populations in counties nationwide, and showcase leading national initiatives to save taxpayers' dollars and improve public safety in your community. I hope you can attend. The meeting will begin on Wednesday, January 25 and conclude no later than noon on Saturday, January 28, Additionally, an optional tour is being planned for 10-2am on January 25 th, so please plan on arriving early. The registration fee for the symposium is only $ dollars, and the Loews Atlanta Hotel has given NACo a hotel conference rate of $169 plus tax a night for a single or double occupancy room. This hotel rate will be honored 3 days prior and 3 days after the meeting dates. To make hotel reservations, please call the hotel directly at (888) and request NACo. Attendees can also book their hotel accommodations on-line at and click here to complete the online registration. I hope you can participate. Since the early 70s, this symposium has explored proactive and progressive initiatives for improving county services in the criminal justice, health care, juvenile justice and public safety disciplines. In addition to the themes of safely lowering jail and juvenile justice systems, the symposium will also explore the importance of risk assessment for county pretrial justice services, and feature sessions on prisoner reentry, justice reinvestment, integrated justice, and cyber security. The Deadline to book your reservations is January 3, 2012 or as long as rooms remain available in the NACo room block. After January 3rd, hotel room or rate availability can no longer be guaranteed, and hotel cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to your arrival date to avoid any penalty. Again, I look forward to your participation at our upcoming symposium. For further information about the 2012 Symposium or if you need any additional details, please contact either Dalen Harris (dharris@naco.org) or Don Murray (dmurray@naco.org) at (202) with NACo.
