1 Executive Summary Lee Fisher s career has spanned the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. He has 18 years of public service, including Ohio Lt. Governor, Director of the Ohio Department of Development ( ODOD ), Chair of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, Ohio Attorney General ( OAG ), State Senator, and State Representative. He has worked as a federal appellate law clerk, private attorney, public and private company board director, law school instructor, undergraduate teaching fellow, television and radio commentator, and President and CEO of the Center for Families and Children ( CFC ). He has extensive management, budgeting, strategic planning, fundraising, public speaking, and writing experience. He has managed budgets ranging from $20 million to $1 billion and teams ranging from 300 to He led a first-of-its-kind outside management review of the OAG and a comprehensive strategic planning process at both CFC and ODOD. Under his leadership, CFC tripled its annual revenue generation, and he led the largest successful capital campaign in CFC history (over $8 million). Lee is a graduate of Oberlin College (1973) and served on the Oberlin College Board of Trustees for 12 years. He earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University ( CWRU ) School of Law (1976). He was the first recipient of the School of Law s Distinguished Recent Graduate Award and was inducted in the School of Law s Society of Benchers. He earned his Executive Master of Nonprofit Organization (EMNO) from the CWRU Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations (2004). He is a graduate of a number of leadership education programs including the Center for Creative Leadership s Leadership at the Peak Program; the CWRU Weatherhead School of Management s Professional Fellows Program, Harvard University s Program on Negotiation, and Leadership Cleveland. He was selected a Chase Public Leadership Fellow at Harvard s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government, and a CWRU Presidential Fellow, teaching two undergraduate seminars on leadership, innovation, and collaboration. After graduation from law school, he was offered three judicial clerkships- two on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6 th Circuit, and one on the Ohio Supreme Court. He clerked for Judge Paul C. Weick of the 6 th Circuit from He was an instructor at the Cleveland- Marshall College of Law in 1978, teaching legal research, writing, and advocacy. He practiced law at the Cleveland law firm, Hahn Loeser & Parks, from in the areas of antitrust and trade regulation, business litigation, and government regulation. He returned to Hahn Loeser &Parks in 1995 as partner. Lee has spoken, lectured, and written extensively on a wide variety of legal and public policy topics. He was elected Ohio Attorney General in As General Counsel for the State of Ohio, he managed the largest law firm in Ohio- a team of 1200 professionals including 350 lawyers, 23 legal divisions, a $50 million budget, and an average daily caseload of 40,000 pending cases. He supervised the writing of over 300 formal legal opinions. Lee was the first Ohio Attorney General to personally argue cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6 th Circuit and the Ohio Supreme Court. 1
