1 The 3rd International Symposium and Exhibition 2018 on Vacuum Coating Technology and Application Was Held From November 18 to 20, 2018, the 3rd International Symposium and Exhibition 2018 on Vacuum Coating Technology and Application, organized by Shenzhen Association for Vacuum Technology Industries and Shenzhen Vacuum Society (SAVTI and SVS for short), was held at Venus Royal Hotel. The joint annual meeting of 30 th Anniversary of Shenzhen Vacuum Society and 2 nd Anniversary of Shenzhen Association for Vacuum Technologies was held concurrently. Chinese and English simultaneous interpretation was used for the event. More than 500 participants from the countries and regions such as China, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Japan, India, UK, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong, China as well as over 80 exhibitors and sponsors attended the conference. Chen Shou, President of Shenzhen Association for Vacuum Technology Industries, Fan Ping, Chairman of Shenzhen Vacuum Society, and Frank T.Zimone, Executive Director of Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC), served as Co-Chairs for the conference. The invited guests, Chen Jianmin, Researcher at Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Dianru, President of Beijing Great Wall Titanium, and Yan Jianhua, Manager of Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, delivered their opening speeches respectively. The conference was composed of 14 keynote speeches, including 12 made by overseas guests and 2 made by domestic guests. The lecturers were Mr. Peter Hillenbrang, CEO of PLATIT Advanced Coating Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Dr. Christoph Schiffers from CemeCon AG, Mr. Frank T.Zimone, Executive Director of SVC, Dr. Robert G. Andosca from Advanced Energy (USA), Dr. Ma Tuteng from SHINCRON, Mr. Chang Hyun Shin, Technical Director from DONGWOO HST Co., Ltd., Chen Jianmin, Researcher at LICP of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Ruud Jacobs, Technical Manager of IHI Hauzer Techno Coating, Dr. Xu Lu from Dongguan Huicheng Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd., Mr. Victor Bellido Gonzalez from Gencoa, Dr. Pawel Ozimek and Mr. Pawel Lesiuk, Vice Technical Manager and Product Manager of TRUMPF Huttinger, Mr. Gary Vergason, CEO of Vergason Technology, and Dr. Herbert Gabriel from PVT-Plasma und Vakuum Technik GmbH. Apart from the above technical reports, the event also included two splendid round-table conferences. The theme for the first round-table conference was Opportunities and Challenges for the International Integration of Vacuum Industry, and 10 vacuum industry experts and entrepreneurs at home and abroad delivered their speeches. Professor Tian Xiubo from Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Huang Feng from CNITECH, and Wu Junwei, Deputy Secretary General of SAVT and SVS, jointly served as the hosts. Directed by Zhan Yonggang, Vice President of Shenzhen Association for Vacuum Technologies, the theme for the second round-table conference was the Gap between Chinese Enterprises and Overseas Counterparts. The representatives from 2018 Europe Delegation and those from overseas advanced enterprises shared their respective thoughts and ideas with all the participants.

2 Besides the largest scale of the conference by comparing previous ones, it reached new heights in terms of internationalization and application as well. At present, China undoubtedly has the best performances and potentials in terms of consumption market scale and manufacturing industry chain integrity. Vacuum coating technology has been increasingly involved in various industries. Therefore, SAVT and SVS have done a lot of work in terms of international expansion and application, obtaining fruitful results. According to these participants, they broadened their visions and understood the technical levels of overseas peers, praising that the lectures combined practical applications perfectly. Prior to the conference, the organizing committee arranged two special activities. One was organizing visits to relevant enterprises on November 17, and 26 persons from more than 20 companies signed in. During the one-day visit, these visitors successively visited Han s Laser Technology Industry Group Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Tiancheng Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd., Bluestar Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., and Dongguan Huicheng Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd., receiving warm receptions from these enterprises. Jointly organized by SAVT and SVS as well as Society of Vacuum Coaters, the other activity was a special lecture named Anti-friction Coating Technology and Application made by Professor Gary Doll, Chief Tribology Expert of Society of Vacuum Coaters, held at the conference center of Shenzhen Association for Vacuum Technologies, and more than 30 persons took part in the lecture. In the evening the conference was finished, SAVTI and SVS, together with nine enterprises, Hunan Zhongyuan Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Xieyi Automation Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Tiandijingyi Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Hezong Tianqi Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., Shanghai Triplewins Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd., Changzhou Le Meng Pressure Vessel Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Golden Vacuum Optoelectronic Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Value Mechanical & Electrical Products Co., Ltd., and Beijing Shiji Jiutai Vacuum Technology Co., Ltd., jointly held a banquet themed Unforgettable Night of Vacuum as hosts. In easy and harmonious atmosphere, all participants made friends with each other, recalled the past and looked into the future. The banquet was full of happy laughters, cheerful voices and applause. The participants made farewells to each other when the banquet was over, promising to meet in 2019! The successful event received vigorous support and assistance from vacuum industry experts, guests, exhibitors, sponsors, participants, co-organizers, and supporters. In addition, the secretary teams and conference affair teams from both SAVT and SVS also contributed to their hardworking efforts. We hereby express our heartfelt gratitude to all these people! Special note Suggested by the leaderships of SAVTI and SVS and vacuum industry experts, we have determined that the full name for the fourth conference in 2019 is Vacuum Coatings Conference Shenzhen 2019, VCCS 2019 for short, which is different from that for three previous sessions.
