1 Welcome New Committee Members! NAFA would like to welcome four new members to the Affiliates Committee: Kris Bush: Kristofer Bush serves as Vice President of Marketing for LeasePlan USA. His responsibilities include the direction of the strategic and tactical execution of LeasePlan's marketing department, which encompasses brand management, research, association, and key vendor management. He also oversees the company s electronic marketing efforts and leads the steering committee for LeasePlan s client advisory board, Future Directions. Kris, a tenyear LeasePlan veteran, has served in several different roles within marketing. He earned a bachelor s degree from the University of Georgia and has been a NAFA Affiliate since Rich Wanders: Rich Wanders, National Account Sales Manager for Leggett & Platt Commercial Vehicle Products, has been involved in the fleet industry for over 25 years. Prior to assuming his current position with Leggett, Rich worked for 3M Company in Transportation and Commercial Graphics, helped manage family car dealerships in Ohio for 15 years, and was employed by America s Body Company prior to their acquisition by Leggett in Rich graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in business and resides in Hudson, OH with wife Karen. He joined NAFA in March of 2009.

Spellissy: James Spellissy, Vice President Business Development for PHH Arval, has been with PHH for 19 years and is responsible for major account service, large account sales, and managed some of the company s global initiatives along with their Business Activation Team. Originally from Boston, Spellissy has been residing in Maryland for 10 years. Spellissy graduated from Providence College with a concentration in finance and political science and joined NAFA in Alain Primeau Alain Primeau, National Sales Manager, Major Accounts for UAP Inc. NAPA Canada in Montreal Quebec will serve on the Affiliates Committee. Primeau joined NAFA in Affiliates - NAFA Is Looking For Your Help! NAFA leadership and the Affiliates Committee are reaching out to all Affiliates and would like you to be more than just a sponsor we want you to actively get involved! NAFA s Strategic Plan calls for utilizing the expertise of NAFA Affiliates in efforts to further support NAFA as the recognized voice and source of fleet information to industry partners, the government, fleet managers, and decision-makers. This year, NAFA is making a concerted effort to begin leveraging one of our greatest assets: the knowledge, expertise, and resources of all of our Affiliates. We would like every Affiliate to get more involved in every aspect of our operations, including: Writing articles for our magazine, FLEETSolutions Helping develop new educational products Providing technical reviews of new or existing products Being speakers at our I&E and chapter meetings Assisting with legislative activities and advocacy programs Participating in governance issues Becoming a member of your local Chapter Board Being active on the national Affiliates Committee With this in mind, NAFA has created an Affiliate Volunteer Survey listing projects such as articles, products, and presentations that you, as a NAFA Affiliate, can lend your expertise. As you know, NAFA Affiliates help NAFA Members in many diverse ways, especially in regard to education and training. Sharing your expertise with fleet managers builds our relationships and creates a synergy essential in today s business world. Our Affiliate Volunteer Survey will give you the opportunity to participate in whatever way suits you best, whether you choose chapter presentations, draft articles, educational development of products and projects, teach at seminars, become involved with Affiliates in advocacy, or in governance activities like the BOG. 3 Affiliate Involvement How can you get involved? A recent review of the Strategic Plan found Affiliates are becoming more involved with several NAFA projects. You don't need to book a flight or visit the NAFA office - many projects can be done online or via . These projects include: Chapter Presentations Participation includes identifying topics, analyzing survey data, developing content, choosing a speaker, and presenting information. Educational Articles Participate in the Affiliates Forum which is now featured in the FleetFOCUS Newsletter. Educational Products and Projects Promote current needs in the Affiliates News Bulletin, , and the Affiliates Forum in the FleetFOCUS. I&E Sessions Affiliates could help acquire speakers and/or address specific subjects. NAFA Seminars Find Affiliate experts to speak at NAFA seminars. A Successful 2009 Institute & Expo By Mike Antich, NAFA Affiliates Committee The Affiliates Committee is the recognized representation of all Affiliates to the NAFA organization. The Committee's purpose is to present the interests and concerns of Affiliates to NAFA and to support the mission and goals of the Association. The Affiliates Committee would like to thank everyone for attending NAFA's 2009 Institute & Expo (I&E) in New Orleans. Despite the economic downturn for many businesses, NAFA had another terrific I&E this year. The 2009 I&E offered numerous networking opportunities, exhibits featuring the latest fleet products, and quality training and education. The I&E seminar content comprised of more than 60 hours of training, education, and workshops. The I&E's educational content was well received by attendees and customized to appeal to a wide variety of fleet interests and experiences. The Expo featured more than 210 companies exhibiting their latest products and services. The Expo was packed with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers focused on the fleet industry. The Expo also included the Green Zone, which showcased the latest in green fleet products and services. In addition, there was a Green Fleet Ride-and-Drive that offered attendees the opportunity to test drive various alternative-fuel vehicles. Another successful feature of the conference was the Public Safety Group Rodeo, which included the largest collection of emergency service vehicles offered at any fleet event. The Grand Celebration Affiliates and Manufacturers Night was very well attended as attendees networked with their peers and business partners. This fun-filled evening included all the food and drink that makes New Orleans famous, as well as listening and dancing to a popular local band. The venue was perfect as was

Affiliates-Sponsored Keynoter Generates Discussion Among Attendees - This year's keynote speaker was Graeme Maxton. This was a repeat appearance for Maxton. He last spoke three years ago at NAFA's annual conference. At that time, Maxton warned that the global auto industry needed a major model change and complete reengineering to fix all that was wrong with it. According to Maxton, the past 12 months substantiated much of his dire forecast. Maxton, an internationally renowned authority on the global automotive industry, shared his insights about the future of the global automotive industry as the opening keynote speaker for the 2009 I&E, on Sunday, April 26. At the 2009 I&E, Maxton's forecast for the auto industry was not bright. He made five predictions: 1. Global car and truck sales will take more than a decade to recover. 2. There will be fewer companies manufacturing cars and trucks and a more fragmented auto industry. 3. Car prices need to almost double in real terms. "Cars are too cheap," he said. Maxton predicted tighter emission controls will drive up prices, governments will raise taxes, and interest on car loans will go up 4. The economic pressures on the auto industry and lower fuel prices will most likely cause environmentalism to take a back seat for now. 5. Innovation will cause a resurgence in the auto industry. In addition to his knowledge of the automotive industry, Maxton is a writer, presenter, and events moderator who specializes in Asian business and economics. Maxton chairs many of The Economist's meetings and conferences and is the presenter of the "Doing Business in Asia" video series. He writes for a variety of publications including The Economist, The South China Morning Post, Scotland on Sunday, Business China, and Business Asia. Maxton holds a degree in economics and operations research, as well as an MBA and is a member of the economic policy committee of the
