Driven by curiosity to know the places she went, she decided to leave the Sheraton Hotel where the company hosted the crew. The hotel concierge suggested the visit to orphanages and hospitals, she accepted the idea and went to visit an orphanage. While there, some nuns suggested she should visit a hospital where she found a young girl who had given birth to twins. She was very sick, basically left to die. The hospital conditions and the lack of treatments made Maria leave the Hospital shocked! That image never came out of her mind and she only regained peace when she decided to return to Dhaka to help those people.
