Topics include: Finding your way around Mastercam. Configuring the software for the classroom environment. Creating points, lines, arcs, letters and other wireframe geometry. Introduction to Solids, Contour, Drill, Pocket, Dynamic Mill and Engrave toolpaths. Importing and converting raster images. Posting code to CNC Machines. 3 Title of Class: Introduction to Mastercam 2018 July 24 28, 2017 Southwestern Illinois College 4950 Maryville Road Granite City, IL Contact information: Mark Bosworth Phone: Mark Bosworth This course starts with the transition to Mastercam 2017/2018, the latest Mastercam platform, and a short review of basic CAD/CAM/CNC concepts. The class will then start creating projects using Mastercam to produce machined projects while incorporating the software s various design and toolpath features. This course will also show attendees the techniques to produce quick and easy projects for classes at their schools. This class is designed for instructors who want to move on to Mastercam 2017/2018 as well as the ones that want to gain experience with the software to help their classes produce projects. STEM educators take part in an intense five day electric guitar design/build project. Each attendee will build their own custom electric guitar and will engage in student centered learning activities that relate the guitar design to specific math, science, and engineering topics. Participants leave this weeklong experience with their custom made guitars and curriculum modules with short term assessments that can be immediately integrated into the faculty team school curriculum. We will utilize some of the basic toolpaths that Mastercam has to offer such as, Contour, Pocket, and Drilling, as well as some of the more advanced toolpaths like Dynamic Milling, Dynamic Contour, and Dynamic Optirough to complete your electric guitar.
