7 Introduction This Studio Environment Set is meant to be used in Bentley MicroStation V8i with the studio lighting needs in mind. SES 2 has a blend of CG lighting techniques & blended with a studio setting. The variety of tones, hues & setups makes it a unique pack for designers & can provide infinite combinations of lighting scenarios. The location of the SES 2 installation by default is %AppData%\Luxology\Configs The location of the 9b SES2.cfg configuration file by default is Microstation\config\appl While this product is slated for Bentley MicroStation V8i, it can be used with previous version of the software. What may differ is the installation, application & editing of the SES 2 content. Post installation: After installing SES 2, users should be able to navigate to the content in Bentley MicroStation V8i via the Appearances, Scenes & Decals tab as described in the importing section of the manual. 9b SES2.dgnlib: Preset setup & path file for Bentley MicroStation V8i Docs: Includes the Manual, License file & the Read Me file Environments: Includes the Environment preset assemblies HDRI: Includes the actual High Dynamic Range 4000 pixels x 2000 pixels.hdr images HDRI_desat: Includes a desaturated copy of the actual High Dynamic Range 4000 pixels x 2000 pixels.hdr images Contains material presets for Bentley MicroStation V8i Icons: Includes icon images at 1024 pixels x 512 pixels for preview sphere & user preview purposes in.png format 7

Re-distribution of this library commercially or otherwise without prior written consent by 9b studios is prohibited. This Library is licensed on a per user basis. Studios & companies need to purchase licenses for each of their users. 11 Using SES 2 in Bentley MicroStation V8i Checking Configuration Settings & Preset Setup The first step is to make sure the config files are in the Microstation\config\appl folder Here is an example of the file path 11

12 Using SES 2 in Bentley MicroStation V8i Click on the Environment Maps dialog under the Visualization Task Panel 12

13 Using SES 2 in Bentley MicroStation V8i The 9b SES 2 Environments will automatically show up in the User Environment Maps dialog & are ready for use. The annotated _desat presets offer a desaturated neutral version of the relevant HDRI environment preset. Users can use the desaturated images for the indirect lighting while keeping the originals for reflections/refractions. To do this in the standard environments, simply click on the indirect drop down menu under Visibility & select Indirect as opposed to Main 13

14 Using SES 2 in Bentley MicroStation V8i To use the bundled material presets, go to the material editor & choose Palette->Open 14

15 Using SES 2 in Bentley MicroStation V8i Click on the 9b SES 2.dnglib which should be at the top of the list. Opening this palette should provide you access to the included presets. 15

17 Editing the SES 2 HDR Images in Bentley MicroStation V8i Environment Settings Dialog Users can change different Visibility options through the toggles provided by Bentley MicroStation V8i The Lux controller will manipulate the SES 2 lighting brightness The Rotation controller will manipulate the HDRI image rotation along the Ground normal 17
