To deselect an area (remove the ants ), press CTRL+D. UNDO To undo a command, choose Edit > Undo, or press CTRL+Z. To revert to the original image, press CTRL+R, then click Yes. To redo, choose Edit > Redo, press CTRL+Y. You can set the number of undos and redos - choose Tools > Preferences > Histories. Set the number of redo/undos. Then close and open Photofiltre. 2
3 PHOTOFILTRE BASIC FUNCTIONS Most of PhotoFiltre s commands can be performed through choosing an item from the pull-down menu, or by clicking on the appropriate icon on the standard or filter tool bars. Standard Toolbar Filter Toolbar Resize Choose Image > Image Size, or select the Image Size Icon on the standard toolbar. Type in the desired width the height will be automatically adjusted to keep the image in proportion. NOTE: If Preserve aspect ratio is unchecked, the image not will resize proportionally. Flip/Rotate Choose Image > Rotate, or click the appropriate flip or rotate icon on the filter toolbar. The Free Rotate option is available only in the drop down menu. Crop To crop and image, choose a selection shape tool and draw a selection around the area you want to keep. Then choose Image > Crop. Color Adjustments Single click on any of the color adjustment icons to apply the adjustment to the entire image. Single click again for more intensity. More color adjustments are available under the Adjust menu. NOTE: Creating a selection and applying a color adjustment will apply the adjustment only in the selected area. You can apply multiple color adjustments. 3
4 COLOR SPECIAL EFFECTS Grayscale, Sepia, Hue Variation, Gradient Overlay Hue Variation = places a color wash on top of image Use the slider and preview below Gradient Overlay = places a gradient color wash on top of an image Set the Style (one color, or a blend of two colors) Set direction of the gradient fad Choose the color(s) and the opacity of each (lower number = more see-through) Clicking Preview will allow you to see the effect without closing the Gradient dialog box. More color effects are available under the Adjust menu. NOTE: Creating a selection and applying a color special effects will apply the effect only in the selected area. You can apply multiple effects. Focus Effects Soften, Blur, Sharpen, Reinforce Single click on any of the focus adjustment icons to apply the adjustment to the entire image. Single click again for more intensity. NOTE: Creating a selection and applying a focus adjustment will apply the adjustment only in the selected area. 4
5 PhotoMasques Choose Filter > PhotoMasque, or click the photo masque icon in the filter toolbar. Select a shape by clicking the yellow folder. Choose mask on the inside or outside. Choose the mask orientation. Choose opacity and/or color. Choose one of the 5 modes. Different modes will provide different options. Stretch Mask applies one large mask to the image. Tile mask makes a series of masks. Clicking Preview will allow you to see the effect without closing the PhotoMasque dialog box. When in the Pattern Mode, select a pattern by clicking the yellow folder. NOTE: Creating a selection and applying a photo masque will apply the mask only in the selected area. You can apply multiple photomasques. MORE FRAMES Outside Frame Outside Shadow Choose Image > Outside Frame. Set the width and color. If background pattern is checked, open the yellow folder to choose a background. Note: You can apply multiple frames. Choose Image > Outside Drop Shadow. Choose desired settings. If background pattern is checked, open the yellow folder to choose a background. 5
6 Filter Menu Effects More fun effects are available under the Filter drop down menu. More than one filter effect can be applied. OTHER FUNCTIONS Text To add text on top of an image, choose Image > Text, or click the Text icon in the standard toolbar. Type and format your text, and then press OK. Once text has been deselected, it is no longer editable or moveable. Red Eye Zoom in on the red area of the eye using the magnifier on the standard toolbar. Select the red area with a selection tool. Click the grayscale icon. Transparent Color Use this option to remove the white background around an image. Image > Set Transparency Color Choose white. NOTE: Only GIFs can be made transparent. Shapes - Stroke & Fill To create a shape with a specific stroke and fill color and/or pattern, draw a shape. Then choose Edit > Stroke & Fill. You can choose a stroke color and width. Fill Choose a color and fill style. Fill Pattern Choose a pattern by clicking the yellow folder. The opacity of the fill can be adjusted. Clicking Preview will show the results without closing the Stroke and Fill dialog box. Be sure to visit for information, tutorials, projects, etc. 6
