1 SHAFTY SCRIBBLER Edited by Matt Prell Spring 2015 Spring Kallah April by Isaac Kravatz On the weekend from April 10-12th NFTY-PAR held their final event of the year, Spring Kallah. It was extremely fun and exciting, but it was sad to say goodbye to our seniors. On Saturday night PAR held their annual banquet, which this year was themed as a Royal Ball. During the banquet SHAFTY was awarded with NFTY-PAR s Program-writing award, The Tikkun Olam Award. Following an exciting banquet, a new Nfty-Par board, including SHAFTY's own Mikey Mitgang and Isaac Kravatz, were installed. Although it was sad to say goodbye to our seniors a new fun year in NFTY-PAR is ahead!

2 Sk8er Skillz April 19 by Ali Kazatsky Headline: Bonim went roller skating and no one fell! Although we were all ready to laugh and help each other up, we made it through a tiring and fun 2 hours without any spills! We even had a few participants who were brand new to skating who did a fantastic job on their first time out. We had pizza and hot dogs for lunch, sang happy birthday to the birthday girl, and played limbo on the rink. The day was long and everyone s legs were sore by the time we unstrapped our skates and headed home. It turned out to be our last Bonim event, so it was a blast to have our friends

3 Laser Wars April 19 by Jacob Shain On April 19th, Sr. Shafty went to Ultrazone for an afternoon of fun followed by Taranova's for lunch. It was a great time competing in laser-tag games as well as enjoying the arcade. While teams stayed the same for the most part in both games, the outcomes were completely different which made them a lot more fun. Lunch at Taranova's was great tasting. People got a variety of foods from chicken to pizza! Everyone had a fun time! Chocolate Sauce Fiasco April 18 by Ali Kazatsky What happens when you have 9, 8 th grade boys show up at Shir Ami to play Marshmall-O-lympics? Messy is an understated way to describe the results of our Chubby Bunny competition, the Lady and the Tramp style race to the marshmallow on a licorice string, and what can now be dubbed the Chocolate Sauce Fiasco of The boys and I had way too much fun playing with our food and chasing each other around with dessert. When the dust settled and the winners were named, we all settled into sleeping bags and watched an outdoor screening of The Avengers. It was a great way to

4 Chalutzim! By Judith Silverman March was a great time in Chalutzim. We had a small intimate group for Creation Station and Cold stone creamery. Everyone enjoyed painting, but the best part was the ice cream (so I heard). April we had a quiet night at the synagogue watching Big Hero 6 and part of the Lego movie along with pizza, make your own sundaes and candy! Super yummy! May, was such a busy time for all of you that we had to postpone Party Magic until the fall! So stay tuned for big fall fun! In the meantime have a great summer and thank you to ALL the parents that helped out this year. We certainly can t have a great youth group with all of you to help us.
