The series opener is slated for Friday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. CT (Big Ten Network) with the finale scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. CT (ESPN U). Border Battle Beatdown The Maroon & Gold picked up their second sweep in Madison in the last three years with a 4-2 win last Friday followed by a 7-1 win on Saturday -- Minnesota s highest offensive output of the season. The Gophers have now won five of the last six games -- four of which came outside the friendly confines of 3M Arena at Mariucci. Robson Stays Sharp in Goal Sophomore goaltender Mat Robson was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after backstopping the Gophers to a pair of Border Battle wins last weekend in Madison. The goaltender made 61 saves on 64 shots in the series including a career-high 38 in Friday s 4-2 win over the Badgers. In nine appearances this year, Robson owns a record. He has allowed two goals or fewer in seven of his nine appearances including two shutouts over the then-no. 1 team in the country (St. Cloud State and Notre Dame). Sheehy Paces the Nation Junior captain Tyler Sheehy led the Big Ten last weekend with five points (three goals, two assists) -- earning Big Ten First Star of the Week honors as well as NCAA Second Star of the Week accolades. Sheehy, who leads Minnesota with 12 goals this year, factored into both game-winning goals last weekend and leads the Big Ten and ranks tied for the NCAA lead with five deciding goals this season. Senior Salute on Saturday The Gopher Hockey program will salute its senior class before Saturday s game as the group of Leon Bristedt, Jack Glover, Steve Johnson, Nick Lehr and Mike Szmatula play their final regular-season game at 3M Arena at Mariucci. The seniors helped the Minnesota to three-consecutive Big Ten regular-season championships including last year s title to set a new NCAA record with the program s sixth-straight regular-season conference title. As freshmen, the group also claimed the 2015 Big Ten Tournament title. This year s senior class boasts an alltime record of entering this weekend s series with the Buckeyes.
