2 From our Camp Card Chair Why Sell Camp Cards? As a parent a scout, I know that finding the funds to send my scout to camp or any outing can be a challenge. If there is a way to save a few dollars for my son s scouting involvement, I m interested. If that cost saving helps my son learn the value a dollar, and empowers him to find a way to fund his dreams, that s even better. If you are a Scoutmaster or Cubmaster looking for ways to renew the old equipment, bridge the funding gap for crossover, or want to build scout and cub spirit by participation in camping, there is a tool to help you with that challenge. That tool is called a Camp Card. A Camp Card is a discount/premium card that features vendors. These vendors graciously support the non-prit goals scouting by creating fers to sell on our cards. You sell this bundled fer card, to raise money for your unit. It s that simple. Below are some the highlights for the 2016 camp card. Two "one-time use" fers: $5 a $100 or more purchase at Kroger Store locations in Central and South Central Kentucky and $5 f a $25 or more purchase at all Family Dollar Stores. Your unit gets 50% each card sold. There are no upfront costs to your unit for the cards. This card will sell for $5 so your unit will make $2.50 per card. We also have a variety digital multi-use deals good at thousands locations nationwide. Because your help, this will be the best camp card sale this Council has ever seen so don t miss it! 3 What s a Camp Card and how does this work? WHAT IS A CAMP CARD? The Blue Grass Council Camp Card is a value-enhanced discount card which provides an opportunity for Scouts to earn money and pay for their summer camping fees or other Scouting adventures. Each camp card contains two one -time use tear-f fers and digital fers good during the 2016 calendar year. The cards sell for $5.00 each. Most customers make back their money the first time they use the cards. HOW THE CAMP CARD SALE WORKS: Step 1 We have changed the order limits this year. Units that have participated in the sale before can order up to 125% cards sold from prior years and new units can order 100 cards or 5 cards per Scout whichever is higher. No-Risk-All cards not sold can be returned to the council at the end the sale. However, units that order more than the 125% prior year number cards sold or new units that order more than 100 cards or 5 per Scout will owe $.50 per any unsold card. Step 2 Camp Cards along with individual Scout sales kits will be mailed March 3. Units can request to pick them up at the Council Scout Shop after March 3. Step 3 Distribute the cards to your Scouts and let them go sell. Encourage them to use this statement as their ask to customers in all sales methods: Hello my name is (first name only). I am with Pack/Troop. I am selling camp cards to help earn my way to camp (or substitute what goal you are working towards). You can help me by trying one these fantastic discount cards. You will help me won t you? Ask all your friends and neighbors. This card is a great value and should sell itself. Go door-to-door in neighborhoods. Encourage parents to bring their Scout to their workplace to sell to their coworkers. Promote the card through s and on Facebook.

5 PRIZE INFORMATION Every week during the Camp Card sales campaign, Blue Grass Council will conduct a drawing for a $25 Blue Grass Council Gift card. The sale begins March 2 and runs through May 16, After all the unit orders have been submitted, there will be a grand prize drawing from among all the entries in the weekly drawings for a $200 Blue Grass Council Gift card. The Council will be adding top seller prizes this year including those listed below! Stay tuned for updates on additional top seller prizes. Encourage your Scouts to sell early and to sell ten. Sell to neighbors, friends, relatives, parent s coworkers, church members, etc. TO QUALIFY FOR THE WEEKLY DRAWINGS For every 25 cards sold the Scout will get one ticket entered in the weekly drawing. You must fax or a copy the sales verification form, with the unit leader s signature, to the Blue Grass Council Service Center at or to AnnaMarie.Jackowski@scouting.org as a PDF with the subject line: Camp Card Drawing. The first drawing will occur on March 10th. RULES FOR THE DRAWING There will be one winner each week. Every week we will start over. All tickets from the prior weeks will be placed in the grand prize drawing at the conclusion the sale. If a Scout sells 25 cards every week, they will be entered into that week s drawing as well as the grand prize drawing. The winner will be notified by phone and their prize will be mailed to them. GRAND PRIZE DRAWING The grand prize drawing will be held after all unit sales have been submitted. For every form that the Scouts either fax or during the 10 week sale, the Scout will have one ticket entered into the drawing. The winner will be notified and can pick-up his/her prize at the Blue Grass Council Service Center or have it mailed to them directly. It is to the Scout s advantage to fax or as many forms as possible during the sale to increase their chances winning. Remember, all forms are required to be verified by the unit leader.
