Resource 1a (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Shape 1 reference for teacher after shape has been cut out Shark

Resource 1b (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Instructions 1 Station 1 Follow the step by step picture instructions to create a shark. Your teacher will show you the original picture. See how close you got to creating it!

Resource 1c (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Shape 2 Dog reference for teacher after shape has been cut out

Resource 1d (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Instructions 2 Station 2 Read the instructions below and use them to help you make a shape picture. 1 - Place the large diamond patterned triangle in the centre of the page so that the longest side is parallel to the bottom of your page. 2 - Select the largest spotted triangle, place its longest side against the left hand side of the diamond triangle. - Slide the spotted triangle down so that it sits 1cm from the right angle corner (vertical) of the diamond patterned triangle. 3 - Select the medium sided spotted triangle. - Arrange it so that its right angle corner (vertical) sits like the top right hand corner (vertical) of a square. - Slide it up so that it sits centrally on the longest side of the large diamond patterned triangle. 4 - Make a square with one diamond patterned triangle and one striped patterned triangle. - The diamond pattern should be at the top right and the stripes should be bottom left. - Slide the top left hand corner (vertical) of your square to meet the right hand corner (vertical) of the large diamond patterned triangle. - The top edge of your small square should continue in a straight line from the longest edge of the triangle. 5 - Select a small striped triangle. - Arrange it so that the left hand corner (vertical) of its longest side joins to the top right hand corner (vertical) of the small square. (This will be the right angled corner (vertical) of the diamond patterned triangle). - A straight line should run from the top right angled corner (vertical) of the striped triangle down the right hand side of the square. - Now select the small spotted triangle and arrange it in the same way but at the top left hand corner (vertical) of your square, where it also meets the large diamond patterned triangle. 6 - Select the remaining small striped triangle and place the right hand corner (vertical) of its longest side on the right angle corner (vertical) of the large spotted triangle. - The longest side of this small triangle should be about 45 o from the horizontal edge of the large spotted triangle. - This should make a straight line along the top. 7 - Lastly take the remaining small diamond triangle. - Arrange it so that its right angle corner (vertical) is at the bottom right hand side. - Place the horizontal side of the right angle corner (vertical) against the horizontal edge of the previous small striped triangle. Your shape should resemble a dog! Your teacher will show you the original picture. See how close you got to creating it!

Resource 1e (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Shape 3 Swan reference for teacher after shape has been cut out

Resource 1f (Activity 2) Shape Picture Activity - Instructions 3 Station 3 The teacher should read the following instructions to the class. 1 - Select the large spotted triangle. - Arrange it so that its sits like the top right angled corner (vertical) of a square. - Place it in the middle of the page on the left hand side. 2 - Select the large diamond patterned triangle. - Turn it sideways so that its longest side is on its left and runs vertically. - Slide it so that it lies against the right hand side of the large spotted triangle. - The top corner (vertical) of the diamond patterned triangle should meet the right angled corner (vertical) of the spotted triangle. 3 - Select the middle sized striped triangle. - Arrange it so that its longest side runs parallel to the bottom of the page. - Slide it up so that it lies against the right hand edge of the large diamond patterned triangle. - Both right angled corners (vertices) should be side by side with a straight line running diagonally. 4 - Select a small spotted triangle. - Arrange it so that its longest side is vertical and the triangle lies on the left. - Slide it down to sit against the upper free edge of the medium sized striped triangle. - The corners (vertices) should meet leaving 1cm of free edge on the right angle side of the striped triangle. 5 - Select a small diamond patterned triangle. - Arrange it in the same way as the previous triangle but this time the triangle will lie to the right. - Slide it down so that its lower side of the right angle corner (vertical) lies against the upper side of the small spotted triangle. - The longest side of this triangle should remain vertical and be running parallel to the longest side of the small spotted triangle. 6 - Select the remaining small spotted triangle. - Arrange it exactly like the first small spotted triangle so that it sits along-side the small diamond patterned triangle. - Its longest side should run in a straight vertical line in conjunction with the other small spotted triangle. 7 - Select a small striped triangle. - Arrange it so that its longest side runs horizontally and the right angle corner (vertical) point up. - Slide it so that the left hand corner (vertical) of the striped triangle joins with the top right hand corner (vertical) of the previous spotted triangle. - It should look like the roof of a house. 8 - Select the last small diamond patterned triangle. - Arrange it so that its sits like the top right angled corner (vertical) of a square. - Slide it up under the previous small striped triangle so that the right angle corner (vertical) meets the right hand corner (vertical) on the longest side of the striped triangle. 9 - Select the remaining small striped triangle. - Arrange it so that its sits like the top right angled corner (vertical) of a square. - Move it to above the largest diamond patterned triangle. - The bottom corner (vertical) of the small striped triangle should meet the top corner (vertical) of the large diamond patterned triangle. - A straight vertical line should run from the top of the striped triangle down the longest side of the diamond triangle. Your shape should look like a swan! Your teacher will show you the original picture. See how close you got to creating it!
