CMS (1.01) Explore and create a body of work that includes a variety of color printmaking & graphic design media. The student will create artworks using a variety of color printmaking media and mixed graphic design media, showing an increasing level of competence within each medium. CMS (1.02) Demonstrate an advanced level of competence in using elements and principles of art to create works of art in various printmaking & graphic design media. The student will create artwork in a printmaking & graphic design medium of his/her choosing with an advanced level of proficiency.

Printmaking: History and Process, Holt, Rinhert The student will know the standard sizes and create works in color media that fit in a standard frame. CMS (2.02) Create a window mat for two-dimensional artwork. The student will create a window mat in a standard size for color media artwork. The student will learn and demonstrate an efficient skill in shrink-wrapping artworks done in color media.

CMS (2.04) Understand the different types of frames used to display various works of art. The student will identify different types of frames used to showcase works of art.

The student will use the tools of each media appropriately during the execution of an artwork. The student will demonstrate proper care of tools and equipment. CMS (1.09) Develop an understanding of and demonstrate the proper care of hazardous materials. The student will discuss and use appropriate safety measures required for each media.

Demonstrate knowledge of analytical processes to create critical aesthetic statements concerning selected works of art. CMS (2.05) Use the language of art criticism to analyze historic works of art. The student will analyze and write a brief synopsis of historic works of art using the correct language in all criticisms. CMS (2.06) Use theories of art to critique a famous work of art. The student will write a critique assessing a famous work of art using the appropriate artistic vocabulary and referencing the artist s use of elements and principles of design. The student will analyze reasons why the particular work was selected and how it reflects on his/her own style of art.

12 6. Show increased awareness of diverse peoples and cultures through visual and performing arts. B. Identify the characteristics and purposes of the historical and cultural contexts of selected pieces of art. A. Present a body of work within a portfolio that reflects one s own inspiration, interpretation or critique, and that is influenced by a variety of cultural styles. Printmaking: History and Process, Holt, Rinhert five works that have identifiable, diverse, cultural influences. The student will discuss the five works of art from his/her portfolio and reflect on styles, trends, connections or diversities in the body of art. CMS (2.07) Select a famous work of art to research and replicate. The student will research the style and context of a famous work by replicating the medium and style. CMS (2.08) Research a variety of art movements and evaluate the different techniques used during that time. The student will research different art movements and create his/her own works of art in the appropriate style being observed.

Demonstrate effective visual communication using current arts-related technology. CMS (1.11) Develop an increasing level of skill on the computer that aids printmaking skills.
