4 SESSION 2 Dr. Parvati Ramaswamy 11:00-11:40 am Development of Multi-layered functionally gradient thermal barrier coating To study various types thermal barrier coating and coating methods for the application on an engine to improve its thermal efficiency The professor explained everything from the basic of material properties to various applications of TBC in different industries The presentation was crisp and clear which covered thoroughly through TBC and its application Prof. Cyriac Sebastian 11:40-12:00 am Composite Drive shafts To implement advanced polymer composite drive-shafts in industries to reduce weight while maintaining the strength characteristics of the component The presentation described the various types of advanced polymer composites and its application in automotive industries
5 The professor mentioned in detail the various types of advanced polymer composites and its application in automotive and other industries Prof. James Sathyakumar 12:00-12:50 am MR Fluids, Elastomers and Polymers To fabricate an annular orifice passage damper through which MR Fluid can be transmitted from one chamber to another The presentation described the usage of MR Fluids in hydraulic shafts for reducing the vibrations along with various types of industrial applications and bio-medical industry The professor was enthusiastic in explaining and demonstrating the working of the MR Fluid damper which was fabricated by himself as a part of his research which is impressive
6 Prof. Reghu V R 1:40-2:15 pm Thermal Barrier Coating To improve the thermal efficiency of the engine using TBC The presentation described the various types of TBC coating technologies, its testing and performance and how it can be implemented in an engine with simulations using STAR-CCM software. The professor mentioned in the various types of TBC coating technologies, its testing and performance and how well the exhaust gases can be controlled using the same
7 SESSION 3 External/Interna l Dr. Gurumoorthy Hebbar 2:20-3:15 pm Experimental Investigation on Performance and emission characteristics of Alternate fuel engine To develop alternate fuel for future prospective The presentation described the various processes to extract biodiesel from natural resources and making use of it in generating power The internal observer asked to club the project with the Government bodies The external observer deeply appreciated the presentation and also on the benefits of using alternate fuels for the future
