4 The impact of megatrends has fundamentally changed expectations, and consumers and endusers now want to interact online, anytime and from anywhere. I.T. is more strategically important than ever before; 85% of Brazil respondents say CXOs see I.T. as a key strategic lever for business growth. The most common business priorities when it comes to implementing new technologies are: winning new customers (45%) delivering savings and finding efficiencies (40%) automating processes (38%) 4

5 Harnessing the benefits of next-generation technologies is hugely important. 85% believe that they will provide a competitive advantage for their organization Respondents expect to see an influence from these megatrends with regard to: building new products and services (46%) management of mission-critical business operations (38%) improving customer experience (35%) Cloud has a particular strategic importance. Around two thirds (65%) believe that a combination of public and private cloud services allows for a higher level of agility and security. 5

6 Only 61% of respondents believe that their organization currently has the right level of skills and knowledge to achieve business priorities. This could get more difficult as 76% believe that getting I.T. staff trained to keep pace with the implications of technology megatrends will be a challenge for their organization over the next few years. Only 18% say that tech spending is moving outside of I.T. s control, showing that I.T. is not becoming irrelevant. In fact, I.T. will play a key role in growing the business and 81% say that they will become in-house providers of ondemand services. 6

7 EMC commissioned independent technology market research specialist Vanson Bourne to analyze survey responses for the 2014 EMC Forums. 92 respondents from Brazil have completed the questionnaire since May Survey data is collected as a non-mandatory set of questions delivered via upon completion of forum registration. Respondents are from a range of organization sizes and sectors. 7

The top three areas where these trends will have an impact are building new products and services (46%), management of mission-critical business operations (38%) and improving customer experience (35%). Those that most respondents would not be willing to put in the public cloud are ERP (29%) and financial planning (27%).
