Welcome and approval of the draft agenda Terje is welcoming everyone to the meeting. Some new members are joining for the first time (Jim O Neil, Steve Martin, Adrian Sommer). A round table with presentation is done. Both Terje and Evelyne emphasize the importance of the task force as a platform to exchange information amongst technical colleagues but also to use AIE as a tool to communicate towards and influence the European institutions (Commission ) and CLC or IEC and other industry stakeholders. 2 - How widely is it used? In Norway 90% of the market uses it. In Sweden and Finland, the numbers are smaller and they closed down the activity in Denmark. - Where is the competition? In Norway the documentation is mandatory so they need to do the paper work. In the UK, Sweden and Finland, documentation is voluntary. But how can it not be done, because the verification and testing is done against the design. - When you allow an RCD, we don t calculate the impedances in the circuit. b. NELFO Ressurs: boligmappa: documentation system to make life easy as possible Over the past years, Per Chr Svendsen explains NELFO set standard checklists and delivered a digital tool with a digital pen to fill in the checklist with an electronic copy at home. Then the Ipad came resulting in combining the digital pen in a more clever way with the smart tools on the market (ipad, smartphones, ) NELFO has taken control of the content of the checklist as to maintain the quality! Boligmappa = one central database, one register for all registers (land register, property register, national register,..) where all documentation is collected and stored for the future regarding the home documentation. 18 IT systems are connected and integrated with boligmappa = 80% of the market; it covers 7000 new properties/ month. Every property can be included, homes, offices etc. The authorities cannot use the database for other purposes (added value of the property, tax purposes, check the conformity..). It gives an incentive also to use recognized professionals with papers in order (others can t use boligmappa). 3. Share of best practices and technical developments at national level and main focus STUL: membership fee is low (15%) but income are coming from products, large scale products. See ppt attached clients, also non members but they are invoiced more expensive prices. VSEI: in Switzerland they renew the standards every 5 years; 85% are now combined Harmonised standards. It is a good tool for SME s and the electronic version should be ready soon. Amongst VSEI bestsellers, it has a electrical installation calculation system: Adrian will show at next meeting how it works. VSEI organizes the database and other companies sell the software.

3 EIO: Currently a hot topic in Sweden is the investigation & verification of the education system & skills for electrical installers. They are also revising the verification procedure. ECA: Both Jim and Steve are new in the job: they have the intention to edit application guides regarding the standards. The market is slowly taking up even if London is not a good indicator (individual economic bubble). 4. Focus on lighting Mr Joep Roojmans is presenting the Zhaga consortium (see presentation attached): Typically consortia grow in fast growing technology areas. The aim is to focus and produce fast standardization and specifications. The consortium gathers 200 companies (larger companies), worldwide, with a coverage of the entire value chain of the lighting industry with the scope to progress the led lighting market. Why come to AIE? The question was whether they were fully covering the value chain within the lighting community such as the contracting community? The core mission of Zhaga is interchangeability. Questions: - How relevant is lighting to electrical contractors? For the members, lighting is installed everyday but lighting design is not the main & most important area. - Is the relevance changing now the LED technology arises? What is the impact on installation (connectivity) and maintenance (repairs, changing, upgrading). We can t guarantee anything; we can t even calculate the lumen output. Difficulties include the color and amount of light. - What are the main challenges you face in LED lighting? See above AIE suggestion: Define some rules regarding the lumen output We had luminaires and lamp sources, today we have LED integrated in the luminaire. The existing design installation softwares are not capable to include the LED sources. - Where are the bottlenecks and headaches? The installers need arguments from other parties to sell the equipment ( e.g. people are getting older, need more light). Conclusion: Let s keep contact but from the technical task force no further action is required. Lifi = Wifi through lamps lamps with IP address part of Internet of things HuE lamp is wireless but for domestic lighting and should evolve to the professional market. Lighting will be connected in the future for sure! 5. ETSA What is it? ETSA stands for European Telecommunication Services association.

4 Questions: - Are telecommunications and IT companies part of your members? Yes - Are they identified as a special group within your association? yes - Do they need a special attention? If so, how? Do we need an ICT AIE group? Not really, should be included in this technical group at AIE level. - Should AIE do something with ETSA? No - Should AIE take up special activities regarding ICT? Or should we include it in the existing TF? We have to professions: the electrician with a little telecommunications. Another one: ICT man (a lot of regulation) The problem is the difference between active and passive components. Conclusion: - ETSA: Is still ETSA still alive? ECA needs to legally understand what and how to do it? Look at the constitution and send it to Steve Martin. - Everything is getting more and more connected and integrated. To separate the areas of activities again would be a step backwards. - You have to compare the school system and installation systems. There exist different laws and regulations for electrical installations, machinery, communication and building technology. 6. EU Brussels news: - New voltage Directive: the experts agree with the idea to highlight the idea of the danger of electricity; to highlight the need to have the skills to install the equipment and products. Go back & see the discussions with ZVEH. - Power cables: have a look at the documents and repeat Esa s arguments and AIE position. Most important arguments are: o Proportionally this is economically not justified, would be horribly expensive. 2,5% savings and more than 2,5 % more expensive o Other more efficient and fast means do exist to have energy savings in buildings and equipment. - PEF: background: stakeholders meeting, Comments asap and before 14 November. - Professional qualification: this is about mutual recognition of professional qualification. This topic was brought up at the COD and is in the pipeline of the European Commission. Both General Secretaries and the Technical task force will take this issue up. The AIE position will be sent out and ask for feedback before 25 th of November.

5 7. Standardisation Have a look at TC 64 and then documents! Chapter 41 will be reviewed. Next meeting on IEC part 6 verification is in Paris late January. 8. Right of appeal against a standard Double check when the next CEN-CLC BT is; is the decision made? If not, maybe the AIE should oppose to then? 9.
