About the Organizer: The department of ICE, Universityof Rajshahiwas established in 2000 with the objectiveof producing quality human resource that can cater to the current and future need of info-com oriented industry and academia. The academic focus of this department lies on the intersection of electrical, computer and communication engineering. Since its inception, the ICE department has produced many qualityresearchers and skilled manpower who are working profoundly at home and abroad in both academia and industry. 1 of 5

The main goal of this workshop is to provide training that can start the building process of skilled manpower in the field of 3D printing technology in Bangladesh. It also aims at creating awareness about its applications in different arenas thatt are directly related to the development process of Bangladesh. 3D printing technology is a very recent and exciting technology that is used to make a three- dimensional object in any of various processes. A 3D printer is a type of industrial robot. There are lots of advantages of 3D printer such as complexity is Free, Variety is free, No assembly is required, Zero skill manufacturing, Compact, portable manufacturing, Less waste by-product, Precise replication. A comparison can be seen between general printer and 3D printer from following photograph. 2 of 5

3 6. Profile of the local Expert: Dr. Md. HasnatKabir, Associate Professor, Department of ICE, University of Rajshahi is the one of those experts in the field of 3D printing technology in Bangladesh. He has enough experience in this field from Japan during his postdoctoral research. Recently he has established a 3D printing laboratory in the department of ICE. The laboratory was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mizanuddin, Vice-Chancellor of University of Rajshahi on March 01, Following photographsareshowing the inauguration ceremony of the laboratory.
