2 2 Software Energeia: Software that simulates the strategic behavior of electricity firms, developed by the research group The Energy Economics group is formed by ten researchers, with a multidisciplinary background, whose research interests have a common thread: the analysis of the several economic sectors using the most recent advances in economic theory and experimental economics. The activities performed by the group have focused on the study of different energy sectors, on the development of models in the area of Industrial Organization, and on the use of the tools provided by Experimental Economics to improve the understanding of regulatory policies and market design.

Community of Madrid, "The Impact of the Kyoto Protocol on the Spanish Electricity Sector" Spanish Ministry of Education and Science Studies, applications and experiments on the role of observability in markets. OUTSTANDING COLLABORATIONS AND R&D&i PROJECTS The group maintains specific collaborations with companies and institutions that work in different sectors such as, National Energy Commission, BBVA Foundation, Iberdrola, Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía, Enter Instituto de Empresa, Gas Natural, Unión Fenosa, among others. Union Fenosa, INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS The activities of the group mainly comprise consultancy and advising services, as well as participation in research projects on both national and international level. Aggregate Supply and Demand in the Electricity Wholesale Market The group has developed several tools, which can be offered and adapted to the needs of interested companies or institutions: Software that simulates strategic behavior of electricity firms in wholesale markets and is thus able to predict equilibrium market outcomes under several scenarios (mergers, divestitures, etc). Experimental Economics Laboratory, with the necessary software. Analysis of strategic behavior by electricity firms in energy markets with emphasis on their implications for competition policy. Analysis of the regulatory incentives which are generated in the different stages of the energy supply chain. Experimental economics as a methodology for the analysis of auction design, the performance of forward markets, the impact of structural changes such as mergers or divestitures, etc. Environmental policy analysis: mechanisms for emission control (emission rights markets, pollution tax, etc.) and policies supporting renewable energies.
