2 We all encounter borders, boundaries, limits in our everyday lives. Limits in our own thinking and actions, boundaries in our dealings with each others Limitations in the economy, national borders We experience some of these boundaries to be rigid and confining, while others appear to be more protective, flexible and malleable. In some situations we manage to draw up boundaries clearly, in saying NO, in other situations, however, we also experience violations of boundaries. From time to time we transcend boundaries without even realising it, and occasionally we are irritated by the difference on the other side. In mediations, the parties concerned experience boundaries particularly intensively: as limitations and restrictions, as violations of boundaries and as a challenge to reconstruct the borders of their conflict, as a way of developing new solutions. Reconciliation and forgiveness are special forms of transcending these boundaries. Mediators operate along those borders, they are border crossover artists who must be able to recognize and shape their own limits and boundaries. The International Summer School on Business Mediation offers the chance to engage with these different boundary situations and provides an opportunity to develop and refine one s own position, one s own stance and behaviour in mediations.

3 Concept Programme A maximum of 100 mediators from different countries will spend 5 days learning and living in Admont. The programme consists of a mixture of more than 50 workshops, daily events with the whole group, informal exchanges of experiences, discussions with top executives, keynote speeches and dialogue forums. Pantomime, dance, mediations, Chinese tea ceremonies, Tai Chi, yoga and other art and cultural programmes offer a diverse, creative way of experiencing the topic of Crossing Borders. 7 Venue The 4 th International Summer School On Business Mediation is held in Admont in the Austrian province of Styria. Admont is a village in the heart of Austria, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking mountains of Gesäuse National Park and steeped in a tradition of spirituality that dates back centuries. Accommodation All participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. Admont offers a wide variety of accommodation. For your convenience, a certain number of rooms have been pre-booked by the organizers. The organizers can provide a list of hotels. We advise you to make your reservations early, since Admont is generally full up in the summer. Transportation The designated airport is Vienna International Airport (230 kilometers from Admont) or the airport at Graz (110 kilometers from Admont).
