(2) Simplified Graphic display type (3) Map display type
Towards Automated Driving 3 Autonomous type System by on-board sensors Cooperative type System by ITS (C-V2X communication) Detecting objects around the vehicle Preventing slipping off a road Automated Driving System Quotation by US-DOT, SIP Detecting vehicles over the corner(v2v) Detecting pedestrians over the corner(v2p)
Towards Automated Driving 4 On-board Device for V2X Automated lane-change Automated passing LIDAR Rader Rader Rader LIDAR Camera Rader LIDAR Camera LIDAR Rader Automated diverging/merging V2X Driving in an Interchange Driving under complex traffic circumstances is realized by using V2V and V2I communications. Radar Dynamic map Monitoring surrounding condition of vehicle by using camera and radar. matching Matching sensor information with dynamic map to specify their position with high accuracy. Real-time Dynamic Static Source: Japanese OEM web page
Cross-ministerial R&D SIP-adus SIP aims to realize Science & Technology Innovation through promoting R&D overlooking from basic research to implementation and commercialization by cross-ministerial cooperation. CSTI Council for Science, Technology and Innovation Governing Board PD (Program Director) PD: S. Kuzumaki (Toyota motor corporation) Promoting committee PD (chair) Related ministries, Management agency, Experts from academia and public sector Management Agency (Funding Agency) Research organizations Universities, Corporations, Research institutes, etc. SIP-adus (Strategic Innovation Promotion Program - Automated Driving for Universal Services -) The aim of promoting R&D Reducing traffic fatalities Reducing traffic congestion Realize a transport society friendly to everyone 5 important themes Dynamic Map HMI (Human Machine Interface) Security Reducing the traffic accident of the pedestrian Next Generation Transport 5 Cabinet Office (CAO), National Police Agency (NPA), Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) 5
MIC s contributions in SIP-adus 6 V2V Communication and V2I Communication Drawing up communications protocol and etc. Use case of merging on the free way V2P (Pedestrian) Communication Developing communications system. Satellite GNSS terminal Bluetooth Bluetooth Smartphone 700MHz terminal Infrastructure Radar System Developing 79 GHz band high-resolution radar which can identify pedestrians, cars and etc even in bad weather. Detect cars and motorcycles Prediction on collusion and Alert Alert Building Pedestrian, bicycle Alert Detect something in blind spot for drivers Detect pedestrians and bicycles Car(including automated driving car)
SIP-adus Large Scale FOT 7 Duration from Oct to Mar Participants: 21 (including car OEM, Tier1, university, etc ) Area: Highway Test Course 300km General road Quotation: SIP press release at Oct. 2017
Dynamic map Dynamic map is useful for automated driving High accuracy positioning Information of real-time situation of surroundings but there are problems. How to update the database of dynamic map How to deliver so huge data to the mobility 8 Dynamic vehicle, pedestrian, signal etc. Quasi-dynamic, Quasi-static accident, traffic jam, road work, traffic regulation etc. Static 3D map, lane, road etc.
