3 Welcome Hi CVPs! Welcome to the best network!! Congratulations on being elected to this position. I am so excited for you and all that you are going to accomplish. Your TYG had the confidence to elect you and you should have faith in that; believe in yourself and what you are capable of. I am so excited to work with you and help you on your journey as CVP. This weekend you will be learning the tangible skills needed to be an effective leader and CVP of your youth group. We will be working on flyers, design, photography, and more. 8 Don t You Wish That You Could Be a Flyer on the Wall Making flyers is a huge component of being a CVP. This is one your prime ways of sending a message to your TYG. They can be used to share information about events, dinners, reminders, and more. Flyers should be clear, concise, and easy to read. If you find that you cannot fit everything into one post, you either are saying too much or you need to find a new way to present the information (follow up post, promo video, etc.) Also, do not make a habit of posting flyers with little information and very long captions. Consider using countdown posts to help promote events and make sure to fill in all available space. Canva will be your best friend!! (canva.com) Good Bad 7

10 Holy Trinity Instagram: My personal favorite for promoting events or spreading the word. This app is super versatileyou can post one photo, multiple photos, boomerangs, and videos. You can also use Instagram stories as an alternative to creating a snapchat for your TYG. Facebook: This app is really great for getting feedback. Consider creating a Facebook group for your TYG if you do not have one already. You can post photos, videos, polls, and create events for people to RSVP to. I like using Facebook to create albums to put pictures from an event in, that way there is one central place to find them. Snapchat: Snapchat is really great for capturing small moments and letting participants have control of the content. Try creating a group story for events or making geotags. 9

11 Photography - You do not need an expensive camerawhatever works for you - Make sure your camera is charged and has storage - Taking more pictures than needed is always the right move - Try to photograph everyone, or close to everyone - Always post pictures somewhere (Facebook) - Good pictures: not blurry, good lighting, nothing cut off Examples: Good Bad Adapted from Hannah Rubin 10

12 Merch Merch is up to you and your TYG board to decide. Know that when you are creating merch a lot of people are going to offer their input. During the design process, it is important to strike a balance between considering other people s points of view while still staying true to yourself. Also be prepared to work with adults on the creation of your merch. Most likely you will be working close with your advisor and the vendor to cultivate your merch so be prepared to write mature and professional s. If you need help with this, you can talk to your parents, teachers, or you can reach out to me!! 13 Taking Minutes You will generally be taking minutes at any of your board meetings. Minutes are essentially notes, so make sure to be thorough. Take attendance, write down comments chronologically, and include a section about individual responsibilities for each of your board members. After a meeting is over, be sure to share the minutes with your board as soon as possible so they can reference what they have done and what they need to do. 12

14 Lead the Way It is important to remember you are a board member before you are your position. Any position can get caught up in their own individual responsibilities, especially CVP because there is not a lot of opportunity to collaborate on your tasks, but remember that your board and TYG come first. CVPs are able to beat to their own drum, but you are also on board so others can beat to theirs. The well being of your TYG comes first before your own agenda. Ways to stay involved with your board: - Suggest program/event ideas - Go to every meeting - Offer to help whenever help is needed - Stay up to date on what your board is doing - Confirm with President or PVP that your information is correct 13

15 Team Work Makes the Dream Work You will be working very closely with your MVP. Essentially you guys have the same goal but different means of accomplishing it. It is essential that you and your MVP are always on the same page. 14

16 Working with an Advisor Your advisor must approve every post, flyer, and design you create. Make sure to take their suggestions. You are controlling the message you send to the youth group and have the responsibility to make sure content is appropriate and informative. - Be in constant communication with them - Text them for ideas and advice - Show them what you create before finalizing - Make their edits - Work collaboratively - Be best friends 15

17 Buckle Up After today, you will continue to hear from me!! Throughout this year I will be calling you to check in on you and the success of your TYG. I really am here for you and whatever you need. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or to send me memes/sunset pictures. In the coming days, you will be added to a network Groupme chat where reminders and questions will be posted. My hope is that we can grow closer together throughout the year and really be there for our fellow CVPs. The only way that can be accomplished is if I have your cooperation. In order for us to have a strong relationship and successful year, I need you to meet me halfway, meaning respond to my messages and s. As well, there are some new things I would like to bring to the region in the coming year that I would also like your feedback and cooperation with.
