1 CIECA News Letter No. 47 / May 2016 Pictures of CIECA Event The 15th Joint Meeting between CIECA and MNCCI The 15th Joint Meeting between the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) was held on May 11, 2016 at Conference Hall 507 of MNCCI building, Ulaanbaatar. The Meeting was co-chaired by Mrs. Oyunchimeg M., CEO of the MNCCI and Mr. Peter W.J. Huang, the Chairman of Mongolian Committee of CIECA. Over 127 participants from both sides attended the meeting. Mr. Kuo-Jung Huang, Representative, Trade and Economic Representative Office in Ulaanbaatar and Mr. Battogtokh D., Head of Strategic Policy and Planning Department of the Ministry of Industry of Mongolia, were invited to deliver greetings at the opening ceremony. Mr. Robert Lin made a presentation on Fostering Growth of Mongolia s SMEs by Utilization of International Resources, and Dr. Wen-Jing Huang, Assistant Vice President, Overseas Business Center of CECI Engineering Consultants Inc., made a presentation on Crucial Issues for Mongolia s Modern Infrastructure Development and Dr. Liang-Chou Hsia, Emeritus Professor, National Pintung University of Science and Technology, made a presentation on Proposals for Mongolia-Taiwan Cooperative Endeavors on Livestock Production Ecosystem Development at the plenary session. Meanwhile, Mr. Bilguun G., Head of Policy Regulation Department, Ministry of Industry of Mongolia, delivered a speech on SME Policy of Mongolia and Mrs. Tsetsegmaa D., Head of Promotion and Consultancy Division, Invest Mongolia Agency, delivered a speech on Investment Environment in Mongolia. After the meeting, Taiwan s delegation also made courtesy calls on Mongolia s most famous companies in foods, drinks and wood products: Trust Trade 1

Hung (Right 4), Chairman, Mongolia Committee, CIECA Business Elite Breakfast hosted by H.E. Horacio Cartes, the President of the Republic of Paraguay H.E. Horacio Cartes, President of the Republic of Paraguay, led a high-level official delegation to visit Taiwan on May and was invited to the Presidential Inauguration. On May 19, President Horacio Cartes hosted a Business Elite Breakfast at the Grand Hotel, and a total of approximately 80 Taiwanese entrepreneurs were presented at the breakfast meeting. Mr. Peter W.J. Huang, Chairman, Mongolia Committee, CIECA, presented a gift to Mrs. Oyunchimeg M., CEO of MNCCI. 2

Wang, Chairman of the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) Portuguese Parliament Delegation Attends Luncheon Hosted by CIECA Remarks by Mr. Horacio Cartes, President of the Republic of Paraguay The Luncheon in honor of the Delegation of Canadian Members of Parliament to the Presidential Inauguration of the Republic of China At the invitation of CIECA Chairman C.Y. Wang, the Canadian Parliamentary Delegation led by Hon. Judy Sgro, MP paid a visit to Taiwan from May 19 to 23 and was invited to the Presidential Inauguration on May 20. The delegation includes Hon. David M. Wells (Senator), Mr. Robert-Falcon Quellette, Mr. Alexander Nuttall and their spouses. Upon their arrival on May 19, Chairman C. Y. Wang hosted a luncheon at the World Trade Center Club in honor of the delegation. A 2-member Portuguese Parliament Delegation, consisted of Mr. Paulo Rios de Oliveira and Mr. Vitalino Canas, visited Taiwan from May 19th to 21st, 2016, upon the invitation to attend President Tsai, Ying-Wen s inauguration ceremony, as well as to gain a better understanding of Taiwan s economic performance and industrial development. Mr. Hansun Chien, Vice Chairman of CIECA, hosted a welcome luncheon on May 20th, at the Sheraton Hotel,, joined by Mr. Hou, Ming-Chang, Assistant Director-General, Department of European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Eugene Y.J. Chen, Chief Secretary, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs; Mr. Achilles Yeh, Representative, Mozambique Investment Promotion Center in Taiwan; Mr. Webster W. P. Kiang, President, BioLite, Inc.; Mr. 3

4 Jeronimo da Cunha Guimaraes, CEO, Azulejo Co., Ltd, amongst other distinguished guests. Besides discussing the possibility of the Portuguese side to form a delegation to visit in mid-november later this year to participate in the 4th Taiwanese-Portuguese Bilateral Meeting, the possibility for Taiwan and Portugal to cooperate in various areas, such as tourism and agricultural products, was also touched upon. environment & policy, cooperation examples, system integration experience and system integration technology to promote cooperation between Taiwan and Germany by assisting Taiwan s industry with practical action to face the competitions and challenges of the future international market. During the Forum, Prof. Chang, Shuo-Hung, Director of Productivity 4.0 Promotion Office and Mr. Erdal Elver, CEO & President of Siemens Limited Taiwan signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Siemens & Productivity 4.0 Promotion Office to facilitate further talents, technologies and business opportunities exchanges in the future. Taiwan-Germen Networking Dinner The Taiwan-Germen networking dinner was hosted by CIECA to facilitate and accelerate economic cooperation of industry between the Taiwan and German on May 30th, Inventec Appliances Corporation, ACER Incorporated, Faire Friend Group, GLORY Technology Service Inc., etc. were presented at the networking dinner to consolidate mutually beneficial business opportunities between our two countries. Opening Remarks by Mr. Chu, Chih-Yaung, Chairman of German Committee of CIECA. Welcome Luncheon hosted by CIECA Mr. Simon Moore, International Director, Confederation of British Industry (CBI) was invited by CIECA to visit Taiwan from May 30 to June 3. Mr. John T. Yu, Chairman & CEO, CTCI Corporation and also the Co-Chairman of the Taiwan Britain 5 Business Council hosted a welcome lunch at The Ambassador Hotel on May 31, joined with guests from British Office ; British Chamber of Commerce in ; Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA; Department of European Affairs, MOFA; Delta Electronics, Inc.; Taiwan Institute of Economic Research; Yuanta Securities and Taiwan Research-based Biopharmaceutical Manufacturers Association. CBI speaks on behalf of 190,000 businesses of all sizes and sectors, and is the most influential business organization for UK policymakers. CBI provides its members with the connections they need to compete and prosper by networking with potential customers and suppliers to promote their products and services. CIECA arranged for Mr. Simon Moore to visit Institute of Information Industry; National Development Council; The Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA; The Bankers Association of ; British Office ; British Chamber of Commerce in ; Hsinchu Science Park and Industrial Technology Research Institute to establish communication channel and for gaining a better understanding of the economic

Plans of CIECA in June&July 13th Joint Meeting between CIECA and SBF CIECA and our counterpart the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) will be jointly holding the 13th Joint Meeting between CIECA and SBF on June 14th 9:00 a.m. at the Shangri-la Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, 2nd Fl. Shangri-La Ballroom. Mr. Douglas Tong Hsu, Chairman of CIECA s Singapore Committee and of the Far Eastern Group and SBF Chairman Mr. Teo, Siong Seng will jointly preside over the meeting. Chairman Teo will be leading almost thirty Singaporean delegates to attend the meeting. The agenda topics are Professional Services, 6 E-Commerce, Infrastructure and Shipping and Discover Business Opportunities of the Plant Factory. After the meeting, the Singaporean delegation will visit our economic government agencies and high-level city government officials at Taoyuan and Taichung. Trade and Investment Opportunities in Colombia In order to boost economic cooperation between Colombia and Taiwan, Mr. Juan Ernesto Parra, Vice President of Project, Federación Nacional de Comerciantes, FENALCO, will visit Taiwan by the invitation of CIECA in late June. CIECA hold a Seminar on Business Cooperation Opportunities in Colombia in the afternoon of June 21 at TICC, room101d ( International Convention Center). Mr. C. Y. Wang, Chairman of CIECA will chair the seminar and Mr. Juan Ernesto Parra will deliver a presentation on the Economic climate and potential investment opportunities in Colombia. Delegation to the Czech Republic and Hungary In order to help our enterprises expand the European market, CIECA will organize the delegation to the Czech

7 Republic and Hungary on June 27-July 6, The delegation will focus on the sectors including ICT, Industry 4.0, technical training and technical education, agricultural food and drink, environment engineering, and machinery. Bilateral annual meetings, business match, and industrial tour will be arranged to help explore business opportunities. Seminar on Commerce and Industry Cooperation Opportunities in Bulgaria and Balkan Countries To facilitate economic cooperation and trade between Bulgaria and Taiwan, Mr. Tsvetan Atanasov Simeonov, President, Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will visit Taiwan by the invitation of CIECA. We will hold a Seminar on Commerce and Industry Cooperation Opportunities in Bulgaria and Balkan Countries in the morning of June 23rd at TICC, room103 ( International Convention Center). To substantiate economic and trade cooperation between two sides, we will invite speakers to deliver industry speeches which focus on the potential investment opportunities in Bulgaria, Romania and other Balkan countries during the seminar. The 11th Taiwan-Chile Joint Business Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and the Chilean Federation of Industry (SOFOFA) will jointly organize The 11th Taiwan-Chile Joint Business and Individual Business Networking on July 7th at the 2 nd floor, Grand Ballroom of the Shangri-La s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. The Meeting will focus on topics of TPP, E-Commerce, Promotion of SME Development and Green Energy for assisting the entrepreneur s essential interaction between the two countries and to strengthen bilateral cooperation in commerce, trade and investment. 7
