Drill a hole with the Window Care drillwith adjustable counter sink piece. 5. Cut open the joint up to a deoth of 10 mm with the 4 mm straight cutter. Set the Window Care Profi at 24,000 rpm (black). 6. Sand the joints thoroughly to remove the wood fibres and dirt. 7. Inserthe Dry-Pin of the correct size in the pre-drilled hole. 8. The Dry-Pin should be at least 5 mm below the woocl s u rfa ce. 9. Wet the joints thoroughly with Dry-Fix wood stabilizer and let it oenetrate for minutes. 1O. Work the Dry-Flex RP repair compound well into the joint with the Window Care application knife (smallest size). 11. Seal the joint smoothly and remove any excess Dry-Flex RP. Practical tips 12. Allow the Dry-Flex RP to dry completely for at least 24 hours at 20"C. At lower temperatures, the hardening / curing time is variable and may take up to 2 / 3 days. 1. Check the adhesion of the paint system using a sellotape crosshatch adhesion test. lf the adhesion of the paint is inadequate, remove the paint using a Window Care hot air blower (sening 1)- (setting 6). 2. Use the Window Care wood condition meter CS1 to detect the presence of any residual "soft wood" in the jolnt. Any timber affected by decay can be removed using a round cutter with the Window Care Profi. 3. Inspect the joint for the presence of decayed wood with the use of a blunt awl. A rusty brown colour and / or a soft crumbling wood structure generally indicates wood decay. Remove the decayed wood completely and repair the affected area as described. 4. During the process of cutting open the joints or the removal of decayed wood, the development of hairy wood fibres indicates high moisture content. Check the exact moisture content with the wood condition meter CS1. Areas affected by the presence of high moisture content are best left for an appropriate period to allow the evaporation of moisture or forcibly dried with the Window Care hot air blower (setting 1). 5. Good adhesion is not possible on burnt wood. Make sure that the wood does not burn during the paint removal orthe removal of decaved wood. 6. lt is advisable to use products, equipment and accessories which are part of the Window Care System. 7. Before commencing work read all the appropriate instructions for use on the package and the relevantechnical data sheet. 8. Before applying Dry-Flex RP, the Dry-Fix wood stabilizer should be allowed sufficientime to penetrate the surface. Any excess / surplus Dry-Fix should be removed. Generally, minutes is sufficient time for the Dry-Fix to penetrate. Avoid leaving Dry-Fix for a prolonged period of time as this may affect the adhesion of Dry Flex RP. Never allow Dry-Fix a full night to dry. lf this occurs, remove the dried Drv-Fix from the surface and re-treathe surface again with Dry-Fix before application of Dry-Flex RP. 9. Small irregularities or imperfections in the Dry-Flex RP on the timber surface can be treated rapidly with Dry-Flex SR. Dry-Flex SR has 6 minutes pot-life (at 20"C). lt can be sanded after 30 minutes. 1O. Further information can be obtained from Window Care Systems Limited. 3 1. Test for presence of decayed wood with a blunt awl. 2. Remove the paint at the decayed spot preferably with a Window Care hot air blower. 3. Remove the decayed wood using a round cutter with the Window Care Profi at 20,000 rpm (colour marked blue). 4. Drilla hole on both sides of the repair for inserting a Dry-Pin of the correct size. 5. Sand the wood lightly. Remove dust. Push the Dry- Pin completely into the pre drilled hole. 6. Treat the affected surface with Dry-Fix (let it penetrate for minutes). 7. First put a thin layer of Dry-Flex RP onto the wood surface to avoid inclusion of a ir. Repair of decayed wood 8. Model the repair smooth and even with Dry-Flex RP. by "Splicing in timber" 9. Allow 24 hours drying at 20'C. Sand the surface. Treat any irregularities with Dry-Flex SR. 1O. Paint with acrylic or alkyd resin based paint. Practical tips 11. Insert a Dry-Pin into the end-grain of existing and new timber. Apply Dry-Fix. Allow minutes. Apply Dry-Flex RP with a joint width of 4 mm. 12. Pre -treat the end-grain side of the new piece of timber / sill with Dry-Fix and seal after minutes with Dry-Flex RP. 1. Always remove the paint system around the repair (minimum up to 10 mm from the repair) using a Window Care hot air blower (setting 1) - (setting 6). 2. All decayed wood (rusty brown colour and / or crumbling wood structure) should be removed using a round cutter with the Window Care Profi. Check with an awl. lf the decayed wood area is large in size or less accessible with the round cutter, other methods may be used such as chisels etc. 3. Good adhesion is not oossible on burnt wood.
