IMPORTANT GENERAL INFORMATION u INSTALLATION COMPLIANCE Installation of MIRRITE should conform to the same industry-standard building practices used to install wood or composite decking, and should comply with local building codes and the installation guidelines included here. Palram claims no liability or responsibility for the improper installation of this product. Installers are solely responsible to ensure that MIRRITE is appropriate for the intended use, as the product may not be suitable for every applica tion. Given that every installation and application is distinct and individual, installers are solely responsible to determine specific requirements for each deck application. Palram recommends that a licensed architect, engineer or local building official review all designs prior to installation. uavoid FIRE PITS Keep fire pits away from MIRRITE as the ashes, embers, or extreme temperatures may melt or deform the deck surface. u AVOID SANDING & ROUTING Sanding will change the appearance of the surface of MIRRITE and may remove the protective shell of the board, which will void the product warranty. For the same reason, routing is strongly discouraged. u AVOID GLUING & CAULKING DO NOT use glue or caulk to fasten MIRRITE or to seal the joint between two deck boards or other surface. This will inhibit the natural expansion and contraction of the deck boards and will impede the drainage of the deck. (Note exception for affixing MIRRITE fascia board. See page 7.) u NOT FOR PRIMARY LOAD USE MIRRITE is NOT intended for use as columns, support posts, beams, joist stringers or other primary load-bearing members. MIRRITE must be supported by a code-compliant substructure. u USE AS REPLACEMENT DECKING MIRRITE is ideal for refurbishing, where old deck boards are removed and MIRRITE is installed. As with any new deck, refurbished decks require a code-compliant substructure. MIRRITE CANNOT be installed on top of existing deck boards. u STORAGE & HANDLING Store MIRRITE on a flat, level surface. Store in a cool, shady area prior to installation. Do not stack bundles over eight units high. When possible, leave factory packaging on the product to help protect against dirt and debris. MIRRITE is more flexible than wood so additional care should be taken when carrying. Use care when handling MIRRITE with a forklift; forks can easily damage the material. If banding is used during storage or transport, use protective corners to prevent indentations. u HEAT BUILDUP CONSIDERATIONS Darkly pigmented building materials tend to absorb heat, and their surface temperatures can become hot. Please use caution in peak sunlight hours, as the surface temperature of the MIRRITE deck will increase under intense sunlight. Be aware that installation of MIRRITE decking and fascia too close to areas of excessive heat (near fire pits, outdoor heaters, etc.) can result in melting, sagging, warping, surface discoloration and increased expansion or contraction. Such damage is not covered by warranty. Extensive laboratory testing has been conducted on the common industry issue related to damage incurred by reflected sunlight off Low E glass. During this laboratory controlled testing, the proprietary shell on MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring was resistant to damage and fading from this type of high intensity UV exposure. Howeve,r because not every possible Low E exposure scenario can be known or tested, Palram Americas cannot be responsible for damages related to this phenomena in extreme cases outside typical laboratory test conditions. Failure to install MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring in accordance with applicable building codes and this Installation Guide may lead to personal injury, affect deck system performance, and void the product warranty. MANUFACTURED BY PALRAM AMERICAS 2

INTRODUCTION MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring is a replication of real wood species and like real wood, you will see a distinct difference in color and grain pattern from board to board. This is intentional and part of the manufacturing process, giving MIRRITE the most realistic appearance possible. This variation is purely aesthetic. It does not and will not affect the performance of the product. Unlike wood decking, MIRRITE will not split, splinter or suffer structural damage from termites, water or fungal decay, nor will the dimensions of MIRRITE change with variations in humidity and moisture. However, like many other synthetic building materials, MIRRITE will expand and contract along its length with changes in temperature. The expansion and contraction of MIRRITE may result in slight gaps at the end of the boards or in spliced joints. Expansion and contraction will be more noticeable with larger changes in temperature. (For more info, see "Expansion/Contraction & Gap Requirements" on page 4.) TOOLS REQUIRED MIRRITE is installed using the same woodworking tools typically used to install wood or composite decking. Circular saw (with carbide-tipped finish trim blade, 12" 60 TPI minimum) Chalk line, line level, tape measure, carpenter's square, pencil Corded or cordless driver/screw gun (self-feeding screw guns may be used) Jig saw (14 TPI minimum) Miter saw (with carbide-tipped finish trim blade, 12" 60 TPI minimum) Exterior acrylic paint to cover cut ends of boards Sponge paint brush or 1" paint roller IMPORTANT TOOL TIPS Tape the bottom of the circular saw baseplate with tape to avoid scratches. Cut slowly and steadily, not quickly, with the blade fully up to speed before beginning the cut. Keep the circular saw straight through the cut to avoid chipping. Do not use cordless cutting tools. NEVER use nails to fasten MIRRITE, which may result in damage to the fastener and deck board. 3 MADE IN THE USA

MIRRITE OUTDOOR FLOORING INSTALLATION u POSITIONING & ORIENTATION MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring is designed to look like real wood, and as with real wood, there are distinct differences in color/shade and pattern from board to board. Nevertheless, the board patterns do repeat every boards. ALTERNATE SHADES & PATTERNS FOR THE BEST VISUAL EFFECT Similar to real wood flooring installation, to achieve the most pleasing effect with MIRRITE, plan the layout and general position of boards before fastening. Alternate dark/light images. Reverse boards so similar board images are not oriented the same way, and are placed apart from each other. The result will be a highly desirable, random, real-wood appearance. DECK SUBSTRUCTURE JOIST SPACING u TYPICAL SUBSTRUCTURE For applications with deck boards installed perpendicular to joists, MIRRITE may be installed over 16" on-center joist spacing. For improved results, MIRRITE may be installed over 12" oncenter joist spacing. For commercial applications, 12" on-center joist spacing is required. u PICTURE FRAME SUBSTRUCTURE For applications with deck board installed to "picture frame" the deck, use the same joist spacing for a "typical substructure" installation (see left) plus provide additional supports for picture frame structure using pressure-treated lumber, rated for ground contact. u DIAGONAL INSTALLATION For deck boards on a 45 angle, such as a herringbone pattern, MIRRITE must be installed over 12" on-center joist spacing. If installing on an existing joist structure, first ensure that all joists are level, structurally sound, and that there are no nails or screws protruding. EXPANSION/CONTRACTION & GAP REQUIREMENTS MIRRITE expands and con tracts with changes in temperature, compared to real wood, which fluctuates with changes in moisture and humidity. Expansion and contraction are most significant where extreme temperature fluctuations exist. This may result in slight gaps, which might be noticed at the ends of boards or in splice joints. To ensure the best possible fit, allow boards to acclimate to ambient temperature for 24 hours before cutting. MIRRITE should be installed as soon after cutting as possible. As an example, if you cut your boards to length in the afternoon, install them the same day if possible. If the boards are left outside in the cool air overnight, they will most likely contract slightly by morning. The ambient temperature should be used to determine the appropriate gaps between joints, deckboards, and other structural components. See the charts below. GAP BUTT JOINTS & MITER JOINTS GAP BETWEEN DECK BOARDS GAP ADJOINING STRUCTURE Ambient temp during Ambient temp during Ambient temp during install = 32 F or below install = 33 F to 74 F install = 75 F or above 1/4" gap 1/8" gap No gap required 1/8" to 3/16" 3/16" Butt Joint Miter Joint Structures & Posts Side by Side Spacing MANUFACTURED BY PALRAM AMERICAS 4

FASTENING METHODS u FACE FASTENING (SQUARE EDGE DECKING) Cortex fasteners with custom MIRRITE-matching plugs are available, and strongly recommended for use when face-mounting MIRRITE for edge boards, stair treads, fascia, etc. Due to the durability of MIRRITE products, a high-quality fastener that meets the following specifications is recommended: Stainless Steel Minimum Screw Size: #7 (#10 preferred) Minimum Length: 2-3/4" Note: Pre-drilling is recommended but not required. u USING CORTEX FASTENERS & PLUGS With the Cortex setting tool, drive the fastener to the preset level below the deck board surface. Drive perpendicular to board, with two screws per joist. Hand set the plug into the hole. Gently tap the plug until it is flush with the deck surface. The colors in MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring naturally vary from board to board. Match the plug color to the board color, or choose contrasting colors for a more dramatic effect. SQUARE EDGE IMPORTANT INFORMATION The Cortex fastener must be driven perpendicular to the deck surface for proper fit and finished look. Use the Cortex setting tool to set the Cortex fastener at the correct depth or the plug will not seat flush with the deck board surface. Before setting the plug, make sure the hole is free of debris or moisture. Use a smooth or rubber hammer to seat the MIRRITE Cortex plug. Use of non-cortex fasteners or plugs may void the MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring warranty. u HIDDEN FASTENING (GROOVED EDGE DECKING) Cortex and Tiger Claw TCG hidden fastener systems are recommended to install MIRRITE. Other hidden fastener systems may also be compatible with MIRRITE. Before using other types of hidden fasteners, check with the manufacturer of the fastener or Palram customer service to ensure compatibility. DO NOT use non-metallic hidden fasteners with MIRRITE Outdoor flooring. GROOVED EDGE FINISHING ENDS OF MIRRITE BOARDS Because MIRRITE has a white cap layer, whenever an end cut is performed, the perimeter of the white cap layer will be exposed. While this will not cause any detrimental effects or affect the performance of the boards, some consumers may desire a more finished look. A simple way to finish the edges is to use a surface-matching exterior acrylic paint to cover the cut ends of the boards where they are visible. Apply paint to the cut ends of each board using a sponge-type paint brush or small 1" roller. Before it dries, wipe away excess paint that may adhere to the top or side surfaces of the board. Follow the paint manufacturer's instructions for recommended curing times in various weather conditions. Paint Cut Ends 5 MADE IN THE USA

MIRRITE FASCIA INSTALLATION MIRRITE fascia boards that match the species of MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring provide a professional, finished look for any deck. Attach fascia board to a solid backer wide enough to support the entire width of the fascia board. Use 2" x 12" wood rim board or rip-cut rim joist cover to fit precisely. Holding the fascia tight to the framing material, drive the Cortex fastener below the fascia surface to the depth of the Cortex setting tool. Install three fasteners from top to bottom with top and bottom screws positioned 1/2" from the edge as shown in illustration titled "Typical Fascia Fastener Spacing" at right. The third fastener should be approximately centered in the board. Repeat this configuration every 12". Continue fastening in pattern described at right, being sure to work left-to-right or rightto-left only. This will ensure the flatness of the fascia, and reduce the chance of buckling. Fascia may be installed to cover the ends of deck boards on the deck surface, provided 3/16" gap is allowed. (Refer to "Gap Adjoining Structure" chart on page 4.) IMPORTANT INFORMATION Matching Cortex fasteners and plugs are available for MIRRITE fascia. Refer to the illustrations at right to determine the proper spacing of adhesive and fasteners, and also for required spacing between butt joints for fascia boards. In addition to stainless steel Cortex fasteners, use an exterior-rated construction adhesive that is engineered for use with PVC (low modulus) to install MIRRITE Fascia boards. This will help mitigate the affects of expansion. Use only stainless steel fasteners. Drive fasteners at 90 to fascia board for best appearance. Screws at ends of boards should be at least 1/2" from the end to prevent splitting. Install matching Cortex plugs using a smooth or rubber hammer. u PALIGHT TRIMBOARD PALIGHT Trimboard, which comes in multiple colors and board/sheet sizes, is also ideal for use as fascia board, using the same installation methods described. 8 CLEANING & CARE It is recommended that you wash your deck periodically with warm soapy water or ordinary household cleaning products as recommended below to remove surface dirt and debris. Power washing is not required to clean MIRRITE; however, if you chose to do so, MIRRITE may be power washed with a gas or electric-powered spray hose. The power washer should generate water pressure that is no higher than 1100 PSI (pounds per square inch). A fan tip nozzle should be used along with the proper cleaning product. Spray no closer than 12" from the deck surface. u PVC PRODUCT CLEANERS* General cleaners (e.g. Simple Green ) can be used to clean dirt, bird droppings, spider webs, etc. from PVC products. Stain-specific cleaners are listed below. For stains such as food oils and grease, ketchup, mustard, red wine, coffee, etc. Warm water with dish soap For gum, grass, car grease Fantastik, Lestoil, Lysol For motor oil, rust, top soil Murphy Oil Soap, Windex For crayon Lestoil For oil-based caulk (i.e., DAP) Fantastik For felt-tip pen, paint, pencil, tar Soft Scrub These guidelines cannot cover every care and maintenance scenario you may encounter. For additional questions about care and maintenance, call your Palram representative. Rinse all cleaners with water before they dry. Before attempting to use a product that is not listed here, conduct a test on a small, hidden area. PRODUCT & SUBSTANCE COMPATIBILITY MIRRITE Outdoor Flooring is unaffected by products that can stain and/or damage other brands of PVC or composite decking.
