Taper is reduced in length accordingly 650 mm ground socket Once socket is truncated and inserted into second socket to create 650 mm depth sockets.

4 SMART TAPER-LOCK INSTALLATION NEW WORKS Always allow a minimum of 50 mm beneath socket to secure it. If you want the socket to drain or want access for wiring pierce hole in socket and place rubble beneath socket to enable drainage) Installing Ground socket when pouring concrete foundations. Dig hole deep enough so socket finishes level with road or footpath surface. Place small amount of rubble and concrete in hole and simply pour concrete to secure.

If you want the socket to drain or want access for wiring pierce hole in socket and place rubble beneath socket to enable drainage) Allow space for paving so socket finishes level with road or footpath. If there is soil beneath pavers we recommend you install a foundation beneath the pavers of at least 300 mm square to provide stability and ensure against dislodgement when an item is impacted. We do not recommend using 150 mm sockets.

6 SMART TAPER-LOCK INSTALLATION IN SOIL FOUNDATIONS We recommend you install a 700 mm deep (minimum 50 mm beneath socket (suggest increasing depth 1m for bollards likely to be impacted by trucks or heavy vehicles at low speed) x mm square foundation to provide stability and ensure against dislodgement when an item is impacted. If soil is sandy we recommend a 400 mm square and bell out the bottom to provide added stability.

7 SMART TAPER-LOCK INSTALLATION IN EXISTING SOLID CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS Core drill hole large enough to fit socket and fill gap with concrete to secure socket to existing foundation. We recommend 150 or 350 mm ground sockets (650 mm is not necessary in solid concrete footpaths or foundations) NB: We also provide a Smart surface mount option.

10 Installation Tool The installation tool ensures Smart sockets are not distorted or pushed out of alignment during installation (thus ensuring the socket will provide over 200 kg of resistance to unauthorized removal) and enables installation from standing position. The tool is inserted into the socket, and the socket is lowered into the hole. Alignment is checked and concrete poured around the socket to secure. Removal Tool - industrial The industrial Removal tool is used to remove posts from the ground socket (they cannot be removed with a post puller- this will pull the entire base from the ground). You simply hook the tool around the post. The handle will rise as you do this - Simply move handle down with jerking action, to remove post. Sheared post attachment An attachment with a triangular head (hardened steel) on a chain is included to remove sheared off posts. The chain is hooked over a pin on the removal tool and the arm lowered with a jerking action to remove the sheared off item from the ground socket. Modified Items: Modified items available that can be removed using simple foot tool.
