1 Install Guide SERIES: 4000 WOOD TILES STYLE: 4300 LIFT & LOCK TILE Attention Prior to installation, ambient temperatures and humidity must be maintained at the levels intended for the project when occupied. Please refer to the 9Wood Wood Ceiling Acclimatization for Professionals handbook, the A Not-So-Dry Look at Wood Acclimatization DVD, and AWI standards. 2 4300 Lift & Lock Tile, 2x2 2 Suspension Step 1 Reference Grid Establish reference point for the suspension grid (i.e. point A wall, point B center point or other fixed point; see Fig. 1). Index the suspension grid off of the reference point. Note: Shop Drawings or Cut Sheets may offer a recommended reference point. Step 2 Install Grid 2 x 2 (nominal) wood tiles require 15/16 heavy duty t-bar mainrunners and crosstees to be installed at 2 on center (see Fig. 2). Hanger wires are to be installed according to local codes and seismic requirements. Figure 1 Figure 2 Installation Step 3 Clip Details The wood tile has two different clips. The double step clip (with safety strap; when required) at the nose end and a single step clip at the tail end (see Fig. 3). Figure 3

3 4300 Lift & Lock Tile, 2x2 3 Step 4 9Wood Safety Strap Lift wood tile nose end up to the mainrunner. Wrap the safety strap over the t-bar mainrunner (see Fig. 4 & Fig. 5). Step 5 9Wood Safety Strap Attachment Attach the safety strap to the t-bar mainrunner via a #8 x 5/8 fastener (see Fig. 6). Figure 4 Figure 5 Figure 6

4 4300 Lift & Lock Tile, 2x2 4 Step 6 Double Step Clip Raise the nose end of the tile and engage the double step clip so that the bottom step rests on the flange of the t-bar mainrunner (see Fig. 7). Figure 7 Step 7 Single Step Clip Next, raise the tail end of the wood tile to a horizontal position, then shift the wood tile laterally so the tail end is supported form the t-bar mainrunner (see Fig. 8). Figure 8 Step 8 Wood Tile Alignment Once the wood tile is installed, the top step of the double step clip (nose end) and the edge of the single step clip (tail end) should be centered in the suspension grid (see Fig. 9). 5 4300 Lift & Lock Tile, 2x2 5 Step 9 Safety Clip Once the wood tile is in place, direct attach the wood tile to the suspension grid via the safety clip (see Fig. 10). Step 10 Perimeter Condition Field cutting may be required at the perimeters. It may be necessary to relocate the Lift and Lock Clips to fit the suspension grid (see Fig. 11 & Fig. 12). The perimeter tiles may also be direct attached to the suspension grid from the blind side, or from the face with a trim head screw in lieu of Lift and Lock Clips. If the wood tiles are direct attached, shimming will be required to ensure correct system depth. Figure 10 Figure 11 Figure 12 Finishing Field Conditions Veneer Products Applying matching edgebanding, stain and or clear satin lacquer finish to field cut/field ripped edges may be required. Final Dust / Clean Prior to installation or after installation wood members should be dusted. Use a dry dust cloth to clean members. Do not use cleaning chemicals or wet cloths. Aerosol furniture polishes that will not affect the sheen can be used with appropriate caution to remove greasy finger prints if white gloves were not used during handling. Do not spray directly on the wood surface. Apply small amounts on a soft cloth and rub gently. Minor surface scuffing or scratches can be removed by lightly rubbing the affect area with a dry, clean steel wool (#0000). Do not over apply.
