4 4 Inst allation Instructions Step 1. Assemble Uprights 1. Gather Items 1, 2, 3, 4, and Push screws up through bottom of base. 3. Fit base adapters over screws to fit on the contours and shape of the top of the base with the logos facing outside away from the base s flange or lip. 4. Slide adapter washers over top of screws and drop into base adapters. 5. Orient the rail to lean inboard away from the base adapter logo. 6. Using the Medium Allen Wrench provided, firmly tighten and secure the bottom of the rail to the assembled base parts. 7. Refer to Figure 2 below to assemble remaining 3 uprights, repeating steps 1 through 6. ITEM 4 UPRIGHT RAIL ITEM 2 BASE ADAPTER ITEM 3 FLAT WASHER INSERTS ITEM 1 BASE ITEM 5 BUTTON CAP SCREW Failure to install the adapter washers will cause wear damage, which will affect the security, safety, function and use of the Quantum Rack. To prevent damage to rail assembly, take care not to cross-thread or overly tighten screws. Ensure base adapters are oriented properly (with logos outboard) and snug to base contours. Figure 2. 5 5 Step 2. Assemble Top Rails 1. Gather Items 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and Push screws up through bottom of upright assembly s saddle. 3. Using the Medium Allen Wrench, loosely thread a backer bar onto each screw. 4. Slide upright saddle s backer bars into top rail, leaving a loose fit so upright can slide along the top rail s track. 5. Using the Small Allen Wrench, assemble end caps to end of top rail and tighten securely. 6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 for remaining uprights. 6 6 Inst allation Instructions Step 3. Install Upright Assemblies 1. Gather Item 11, 12, 13, 14 and the front and rear upright assemblies. 2. Place Item 11, (rubber bases) on the front of the truck bed rails on both driver and passenger sides. 3. With assistance, lift and position the front upright assembly onto the rubber bases. 4. Adjust and square the position of the upright assembly bases and rubber bases as needed. 5. Slide clamp over upright bases on the inside of truck bed rails as shown in figure Thread socket cap screws up through bottom of clamp. 7. Slide in clamp screw stops between screw and bottom of bedrail. 8. Using the Large Allen Wrench (Item 18), firmly tighten and secure the clamp and base to the bottom of the truck bed rail. 9. Repeat steps 5 through 8 for second clamp. 10. Repeat steps 1 through 8 on remaining upright assemblies. Figure 5. Slide Clamps onto Upright Bases on Truck Bed Rail Step 4. Tighten & Secure Top Rails 1. Adjust and center the top rails on top of uprights. 2. Using the Medium Allen Wrench provided, firmly tighten and secure the socket cap screws beneath each Upright assembly saddle. 3. Cut Item 15 (Seal Trim) to proper length and insert into the bottom of the Top Rail and inside of Uprights to prevent whistling and noise. 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on remaining Upright assembly.

7 Limited Warranty 7 DO NOT OVERLOAD THE QUANTUM RACK. IT IS DESIGNED TO HOLD A LOAD CAPACITY OF 800 POUNDS EVENLY DISTRIBUTED ACROSS THE WIDTH OF THE CROSSBARS. CHECK AND RETIGHTEN ANY CLAMPING DEVICES AND HARDWARE BEFORE EACH USE. INSPECT ALL PARTS AND HARDWARE MONTHLY. TIGHTEN ANY LOOSE HARDWARE IMMEDIATELY. THE LOAD MUST BE SECURED SO IT DOES NOT MOVE DURING ACCELERATION, BRAKING, OR TURNING. FAILURE TO KEEP THE HARDWARE, SECURING DEVICES, AND LOAD TIGHT CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. This LIMITED WARRANTY is made by Daws Manufacturing Company, Inc. to the original retail purchaser of Better Built products. Daws Manufacturing Company, Inc. will repair or replace any Better Built product found to be defective in materials and/or workmanship for a period of one year. This warranty is effective from the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser on the Quantum Rack. This warranty shall not apply if the Quantum Rack has been subject to misuse, abuse, improper installation, modification, or improper maintenance. This warranty does not cover the cost of installation, removal, labor, inconvenience, or other incidental charges that may be incurred. The retail purchaser assumes all risk and liability whatsoever for the installation and use of the Quantum Rack. DAWS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSE- QUENTAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY, NOR SHALL THE DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY THE ORIGI- NAL PURCHASER. DAWS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, INC. MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EX- PRESSED OR IMPLIED, AND ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE WHICH EXCEEDS THE FORGOING IS HEREBY DISCLAIMED AND EXCLUDED FROM THESE WARRENTIES. These warranties are valid only when the original purchaser retains ownership of the Quantum Rack and are attached to the original equipment upon which they are installed. Quantum Rack is designed and sold for storage purposes only and should not be considered as protection for the vehicle or passengers in the event of an accident. Daws Manufacturing Company, Inc. assumes no liability for injury, loss, incidental or consequential damages in the event of a collision or rollover. The powder coating on Quantum Rack is warranted for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. This warranty is limited to the peeling of the original powder coating from the surface to which it was applied. This warranty DOES NOT cover scratches, chipping, or fading of the original coating due to normal use and/or abuse of the product. The warranties, both expressed and implied, of manufacturers of components used in Quantum Rack shall apply to such components. In the event of any breach of any warranty covering Quantum Rack, the sole and exclusive remedy of original retail purchaser shall be limited to the repair or replacement of defective products or parts. Removal of the date of manufacture label placed on the product will void the warranty. Installation of Quantum Rack in any manner other than that recommended by Daws Manufacturing Company, Inc. will void the warranty.
