Doors must be kept in a dry place. Polythene wrapping should be retained till the time of fixing the door. To minimise the risk of distortion, doors must be stored flat on three, level bearers. Care must be taken while lifting the door as it may be heavy. The door must not be exposed to water for a very long time as it is made of wood and timber-like contents, which may lead to minor discolouration and distortion. After hanging in freshly plastered rooms, the door should be left half open at all times to allow air to circulate around it until the house dries out. The door must not be fully opened, to ensure that the face of the door is away from the freshly plastered wall. HOW TO HANDLE Once distorted, the door will not perfectly revert when it dries. Do not hang the door immediately after plastering. To help seal the door and further reduce the chances of distortion, the entire surface should be painted. The bottom of the door must be painted before hanging. Hinges must be aligned to prevent bending. The door must be installed square, true and plumb and it must be hung in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions or the architect s specifications. In the event where the door width needs to be trimmed to fit, equal measure must be removed from each long edge. If the door needs to be trimmed for length, equal measure must be removed from the top and bottom.
