But it was soon to venture into international trade in the year 1998, under the leadership of its Chairman-Director duo, Mr. J. P. Singh & Mr. Anand Kumar Singh.

3 Inside the wood-house of Sylvan Sylvan Ply comes from the house of the Singh Group, plywood makers, over half a century old. The group made a modest beginning as the manufacturer of sawn timber and some other wood-products in But it was soon to venture into international trade in the year 1998, under the leadership of its Chairman-Director duo, Mr. J. P. Singh & Mr. Anand Kumar Singh. Importing timber log from East Asian countries and setting up offices in Lagos, Nigeria, Singapore and South Africa were part of this activity. It was after this initial business consolidation that the Singh Group forayed onto a different track with their flagship company Singh Brothers Exim Pvt. Ltd. (SBEPL). With its huge experience in the field of timber and ample commercial and technical expertise in making of plywood etc. SBEPL soon set up a Veneer, Plywood, Block Board, Flush Door & Resin manufacturing plant near Kolkata. This plant was solely dedicated to manufacturing products for SBEPL s new brand Sylvan. After a humble beginning in July 2009, it took Sylvan just 3 years to reach the heights of pride and success. Vision Our ambition is to be recognized as the producers of plywood of the most excellent quality. For this, we are observing the highest standards in the production processes of all our products. Usage of the best resources, cutting edge technology, continuous research and popular infrastructure upgrade are instrumental in our achieving and sustaining a reputation for quality products at competitive prices.

4 Core of our wooden existence The Gurjan Wood: Made of Gurjan core and veneer, this variety of plywood has a density much higher than ordinary ones. This makes it more compact and dimensionally stable. Gurjan has natural straight grains that make the Plywood warp-free. Its logs are completely stress-free. No wonder,gurjan plywood is so smooth and durable. This variety of ply also offers more resistance to moisture and to borers and termites. The New Zealand Pinewood: This soft-wood is durable, termite resistant and has a low shrinkage capacity which thereby contributes to its stability. Not only that, this variety of wood is denser and more resinous as well. It is used in making block board for high-value carpentry.

19 The eco-friendly ply The Singh Brothers Exim Pvt. Ltd. is an ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007 certified company and a member of Indian Green Building Council which is whole-heartedly committed to clean environment and a worker-friendly atmosphere. Suitable pollution control devices like dust filter(s) and back filter which reduces carbon etc. are in place at this plant to remove all dust particles generated during process of cutting and sanding etc. Another important device that helps this plant remain totally eco-friendly is the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) that treats and recycles the water contaminated during various phases of the manufacturing process.

The resin is produced under excellent supervision and tested as per IS specification.

20 Raw materials The in-house PF or MUF resin plant is one of the modern resin plants. It is one of the added raw materials needed in the production of Plywood. The resin is produced under excellent supervision and tested as per IS specification. This variety of resin is used in panels to produce excellent internal bonding strength, which does not deteriorate under any climatic change.
