3 ADHESIVES PVA AV56 Melamine Laminating Board Adhesive AV56 is an emulsion based adhesive for the bonding of synthetic laminated board to timber, particle board, Craftwood and other semi-porous surfaces. It is an excellent adhesive for a variety of laminates including DAP, Melamine and vinyl coated board. AV56 Clear is an unfilled version for applications requiring a clear glue line. Application and usage detail are the same as for AV56. AV56 is widely used in the furniture industry for assembly of laminated board with traditional fittings such as dowels, mortice and tenon, cams, staples, nails and screws. It is a versatile adhesive that will also bond a variety of porous materials such as timber, particle board, MDF board and Craftwood to non-porous substrates such as rigid foam, vinyl sheet and cultured marble. It is an excellent adhesive for dowel and mortice and tenon joints. It is suitable for general purpose bonding for joinery and assembly work where good bond strength and short clamp times are desirable. It produces a clear glue line and is suitable for use with most softwood and particleboard. Hybond GP is suitable for pine, particleboard and normal cabinet timbers and may be used in conjunction with mechanical fasteners e.g. nails, screws etc. Apply Hybond GP to one surface only and clamp assembly while the adhesive is still wet. Assembled parts should be left 24 hours to allow for complete curing of the glue line before further processing. Clamps may be removed earlier depending on the temperature conditions and the moisture content/density of the materials being bonded. Keep containers sealed and do not store in direct sunlight. Keep in a cool area of the factory avoiding contact with concrete floors. 4 AV180 MDF Board & Joinery Adhesive AV180 is a unique one pack water based adhesive which has been designed to complement the high quality properties of MDF Board. AV180 has fast wet tack, is quick drying and has excellent machining and sanding properties. The bonds formed are very strong and heat resistant and the glue line will accept the stains and lacquers recommended for MDF Board. Due to a strong wet tack it grabs instantly on hard or soft woods, while still permitting alignment of parts. It exhibits good penetration of wood and has easy clean up. The dry film will accept stains, lacquers and varnishes. AV190 is designed for bonding of pine and normal cabinet timbers. It will often bond difficult species not normally successful with standard PVA type adhesives; however a trial should be carried out to confirm suitability. AV190 is particularly suitable for glue lines in joinery work that is to be stained or lacquered. This premier adhesive has excellent creepand heat-resistance, superior solvent-resistance, very low minimum use temperature, and excellent bond strength. Titebond Regular is an excellent choice for edge and face gluing as well as general assembly of a wide variety of wood species. 20lt Titebond 50 PVA Adhesive Titebond 50 is a fast-setting, aliphatic resin emulsion adhesive. This adhesive has excellent creep- and heat-resistance, superior solventresistance, very low minimum use temperature, and excellent bond strength. 7 ADHESIVES CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVES AV515 PVA Adhesive AV515 is a single component, solvent-free, thixotropic, quick setting, and moisture cured polyurethane adhesive. Fully cured AV515 has an extremely strong bond with excellent resistance to water, weathering, ageing and marine conditions. Certified to EN204 D4. AV515 is suitable for bonding porous to porous and porous to non porous substrates such as wood, plasterboard, fibrous cement, metal, EPS foam, concrete, brick, melamine, various plastics (testing is recommended) and many other common substrates providing one or two of the surfaces contain moisture. The product will not cure if there is no moisture available from the substrate. E.g. glass to glass or metal to metal is not possible. 9 ADHESIVES 2 PART RESINS AV201 Urea Formaldehyde Resin AV201 is a liquid Urea Formaldehyde resin which is reacted with hardener as a two pack adhesive system. It can be used with a variety of filled or unfilled powder or liquid hardeners depending on the application. The cured resin is highly water resistant and is used in many aspects of solid timber joinery; furniture construction and door manufacture where strong stable bonds are required. AV201 is a high quality proven adhesive system exhibiting excellent bond strength, very high water/humidity and heat resistance. It has excellent sandability and wood stain/lacquer acceptance. It allows longer Open Time for assembly than the PVA and Crosslink PVA adhesive systems. Clear glue lines can be achieved with the use of either unfilled powder or liquid hardener systems. It is recommended for all joinery work where a non-creep, high bond strength, rigid glue line is required. It is suitable for use in veneering, door panel, standard and moulded plywood manufacture. The resin hardener system can be modified to suit individual applications. 10 AV260 Two-Part Crosslinking PVA AV260 is a fast setting, high solids, 2 pack, crosslinking PVA which when catalysed with Catalyst C Fast or Slow gives bonds of exceptional strength, heat and humidity resistance. The glue line is clear and has good stain and lacquer acceptance. AV260, when catalysed, has a long pot life, however, when applied and clamped or pressed, exhibits a rapid cure time. This property eliminates continual glue mixing and also permits faster turn around times in the press. An obvious limiting feature of fast cure under pressure is that it has a short assembly time. AV260 produces high strength bonds with difficult to bond timbers such as Silver Ash, Kwilla, Teak, Blackwood and Blackbean. It is suitable for cold or hot pressing applications. AV260 is recommended for assembly bonding with RF Curing Systems.
