3 EVA-BASED ADHESIVES (HOT-MELT) Hot-Melt adhesives are used on edgebanding machines and help bond all kinds of PVC, ABS, PMMA, Melamine and Veneer edgebands to carrier materials like Chipboard, MFC or MDF panels. Adhesives for Straight Edgebanding ROMABOND 1001 A competitively priced basic adhesive recommended for all straight edgebanding applications. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 10 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Natural, White, Brown & Black ROMABOND 1002 Recommended for straight edgebanding. Produces good results under all weather conditions on both high and low speed machinery. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 10 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: White, Natural, Brown & Black ROMABOND 1003 A general purpose adhesive with strong bonding characteristics and recommended for straight edgebanding. 4 MAKTHERM 07 High-viscosity adhesive producing good results under all weather conditions and suitable for straight edgebanding. The glue line is minimized on high-speed edgebanding machines. Has strong bonding characteristics under all weather conditions. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 20 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Natural MAKTHERM 50 (Cartridge Adhesive) Recommended for straight edgebanding with Holz-Her branded machines only. 5 ROMABOND 1051 A strong adhesive with polyolefin base, recommended for all types of edgebanding applications on high speed machinery. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 15 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Natural ROMABOND 1052 Transparent adhesive with very strong bonding characteristics and minimum fillers. Recommended for both straight and curved edges especially for 1.00 mm and thicker edgebanding applications. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 15 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Transparent Amount of Packaging: 20 kg. MAKTHERM 5724 Transparent adhesive with a low amount of fillers and strong bonding characteristics. Recommended for both straight edgebanding and curved edgebanding, especially for 1.00 mm and thicker edgebands. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 10 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Transparent Amount of Packaging: 20 kg. MAKTHERM 26 Transparent adhesive with no fillers and strong bonding characteristics. 6 Adhesives for Curved Edgebanding MAKTHERM 5707 Recommended for bonding curved edges mainly for low speed or hand-operated machinery. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 5 m/min. Application Amount gr/m 2 Colour: Natural MAKTHERM 5210 Recommended for bonding curved edges; especially 0.40 mm edgebands. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 5 m/min. Application Amount: gr/m 2 Colour: Natural MAKTHERM 5724 Please see details on page 5. Adhesives for Wrapping Foils & Door Sills ROMABOND 1017 A polyolefin based adhesive with no fillers. Recommended for profile wrapping machines bonding PP, laminate and veneers. Glue Pot Roller Temperature: C Feed Speed: Minimum 15 m/min. Application and Storage Suggestions for EVA-based Adhesives Ambient Temperature: Problems with Hot-Melt adhesives are generally experienced in cold weather. As the ambient temperature decreases, the performance of the adhesive starts to deteriorate. When the temperature goes below 0 C, the performance of the adhesive decreases dramatically. In order to overcome this problem, it is suggested that; A heater fan is placed to the feeding point of the edgebanding machine. Edgebands and boards are kept in a warmer storage area. The temperature in the edgebanding machines glue pot and rollers are increased by another C. The suggestions mentioned above do not guarantee 100% positive results. The main goal is to provide 20 C ambient temperature at the working environment. Adhesives viscosity starts to decrease as the environment temperature rises to 30 C or above. As a practical solution, it is recommended to cool the pot and the roller down by C. As a result, the ideal viscosity of the adhesive can be restored during the application. Glue Pot temperature: The desired level of bonding cannot be achieved if the adhesive doesn t adequately melt. This problem arises mainly because of the malfunctioning of the heaters in the container. In such a case, the actual temperature is far lower than the temperature read on the container s thermostats. To be certain, it is recommended to measure the temperature of the adhesive inside the pot with a separate thermometer. Faulty heaters should be replaced with new ones to overcome the problem. SOLVENT-BASED ADHESIVES Post-Forming Adhesives ALFAPREN SC 5106 (Contact Adhesive) Solvent-based adhesive used for bonding laminates during post-forming applications. Drying time is between 5-20 minutes depending on the ambient room temperature. Should be used with a spray gun having a nozzle diameter of 1.80 mm. Colour: Red, Transparent Amount of Packaging: 25 lt. and 200 lt. EUROBOND CONTACT ADHESIVE Heat-resistant, solvent-based contact adhesive that can be applied with a spray gun, available in red color. Suitable for the bonding of decorative plastic laminates on boards or metals as well as bonding of kitchen and bathroom worktops. Can be used for veneer bonding and is ideal for post-forming applications. Recommended for the automotive and related industries as a general-purpose adhesive. Colour: Red Amount of Packaging: 19 lt. 7

8 Profile Wrapping Adhesive ROMABOND 5416 A double-component glue extensively used in profile wrapping on MDF. Hardener 5 has to be added at a 4% ratio before the application process. Amount of Packaging: ROMABOND kg/hardener 5-1 kg. Application and Storage Suggestions for Solvent Based Adhesives For optimal storage, maintain products at a temperature between 15 C to 20 C, in a dry place, on pallets and away from direct sunlight. Adhesive containers should be kept firmly closed when not actually in use. It is recommended that contact adhesives are applied with a 1.80 mm glue gun. The adhesive should not be diluted with thinner. This can damage its chemical structure. WATER-BASED ADHESIVES (PVA) Wood Bonding & Press Adhesives ROMABOND 120 Water-based adhesive with strong bonding characteristics and used to bond laminates on carrier materials like Chipboard, MFC or MDF panels. Applied by a hand roller or rolling cylinder. Can be used on cold and hot presses. Recommended pressing time is 3 minutes at a temperature of 80 C. It is possible to prolong the pressing time by lowering the temperature. Amount of Packaging: 30 kg. ROMABOND 220 Solid wood adhesive used for all carpentry applications like bonding of MFC, Veneer, MDF and other wood products. Bonding time is long but once cured, the pieces have high resistance to impact, high temperature etc. and will not unseal. Can be used on both cold and hot presses. Amount of Packaging: 30 kg. ROMABOND 420 D2 norm, strong and fast drying adhesive which turns transparent after curing. Perfect results are obtained bonding all kind of wooden materials, carrier materials like Chipboards, MFC and MDF to each other or other wooden pieces. Amount of Packaging: 20 kg. and 50 kg. 8

9 MAKCOL 3M/HARDENER 3 D3 norm adhesive used for bonding outdoor wooden materials like windows or garden furniture. To reach to the norm D4, Hardener 3 has to be added at a 5% ratio. Bonded parts are water and moisture resistant. Amount of Packaging: Makcol 3M-20 kg/hardener 3-1 kg. ROMABOND 370 Very strong and fast drying adhesive which turns transparent after curing. Perfect results are obtained bonding all kind of wooden materials, carrier materials like Chipboards, MFC and MDF to each other or other wooden pieces. Pressing time is very short which makes it very time efficient. Can be used on both cold and hot presses. Applied by a hand roller or rolling cylinder. Recommended press time is 75 seconds in 80 C. Amount of Packaging: 30 kg. ROMABOND 820 D3 norm adhesive used for bonding outdoor wooden materials like windows or garden furniture. To reach to the norm D4, Hardener 3 has to be added at a 5% ratio. Bonded parts are water and moisture resistant. Amount of Packaging: Romabond kg/hardener 3-1 kg. Membrane Press Adhesives MAKPRESS PLUS Suitable for bonding PVC foils on MDF panels mainly for membrane and vacuum press applications. Applied with a spray gun onto the MDF. Single-component adhesive. ROMABOND 2001 Romabond 2001 is a water-based adhesive used in bonding PVC foils on MDF in membrane vacuum press machines. It is applied on MDF with an mm glue gun connected to a compressor. The heat reaching the PVC s adhesive part is recommended to be C. Applied pressure should be between 2-6 bars and pressing time should be between seconds depending on the ambient room temperature. Application and Storage Suggestions for Water-Based Adhesives For optimal storage, maintain products at a temperature between 15 C to 20 C, in a dry place, on pallets and away from direct sunlight. Adhesive containers should be kept closed when not actually in use. In case of high viscosity, water can be added to dilute the adhesives based on the usage purposes. Adding water will lessen the bonding strength of the adhesive. 9

10 OTHER ADHESIVES ROMABOND UF 1008 Urea based adhesive supplied in powder form. Suitable for pressing natural veneer onto chipboard or MDF panels. E1 norm. The solution should be prepared by mixing 2 kg adhesive with 1 liter of water. ROMABOND MARINE ADHESIVE Single-component, polyurethane wood and derivatives adhesive with D4 norm (DIN EN204). Should be applied on moist surfaces; the ambient air and wood humidity assist the curing process. Used on all bonding applications requiring water resistance, on furniture production, boat production and bonding of wooden materials to each other as well as to metal, concrete and all kind of plastic materials. Can be applied easily, has a low viscosity and is fast curing. Endures in high and low temperatures, also resistant to humidity and most chemicals. Amount of Packaging: 30 Pieces/550 ml. ROMABOND FAST ADHESIVE Consists of a set containing a high viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive and a spray activator. Used for the repair and assembly of wooden pieces, bonding of MDF, rubber, leather and plastic surfaces to each other. Recommended for all applications where fast curing is essential. Strong bonding characteristics, suitable for vertical surface applications; does not splash or flow off. The high viscosity feature of the adhesive supports the bonding strength, especially on porous surfaces. Amount of Packaging: 50 Sets/Box 2 Alternatives: 50 gr/200 ml or 100 gr/400 ml. Application and Storage Suggestions Make sure the surface is dry and free off dust, dirt or oil. Apply the activator to one of the bonding surfaces and wait for it to dry. Apply the adhesive to the other surface and press both parts strongly together for a few seconds. Has a 12 months shelf life; if stored in a dry and cool place in original packaging. ROMABOND SILICONE Long-lasting, flexible and high quality silicone sealant that can be used successfully on multi-purpose filling and sealing applications. Bonds easily on a large variety of products like glass, aluminum, painted wood with no requirement for a primer. Used on sanitary rooms, kitchens and other dump areas. The application surface should be clean and dry with an ambient temperature between 5 C and 40 C. Should be kept in a dry and cool place with a temperature under 30 C. 11 ROMABOND PU MONTAGE ADHESIVE-LIQUID NAIL D4 norm polyurethane adhesive which cures with humidity, has strong bonding characteristics and a filling feature (DIN EN204). Used for bonding most of the construction materials; mainly wooden products, metal, concrete, PVC, polyester etc. Also used in furniture manufacturing, assembly of wooden doors and window frames, bonding of bricks, tiles, natural stones as well as applications on marine manufacturing. Suitable for both vertical and horizontal surface applications; does not flow off. Low consumption; it is economical. Shows excellent resistance to humidity and all weather conditions. Easy to use; fast curing and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. Box Amount: 24 Pieces/300 ml. Application and Storage Suggestions Lightly moisten the surfaces to reduce curing time and increase the bonding strength. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to only one of the parts, press bonded parts together for a minimum of 15 minutes. Acetone can be used to clean newly applied adhesive. Not suitable for usage on Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Nylon, ABS or PTFE surfaces. ROMABOND FOAM Single-component aerosol polyurethane foam that cures with the ambient air moisture. The higher the moisture level on the surface applied, the better the performance of the foam. Should be used together with the plastic straw applicator supplied with each container. Does not contain any propellant gas hazardous to the Ozone layer. Could be used as a general-purpose filling, bonding and insulating material. Mainly used on the assembly and insulation of window and door frames, filling and insulation of large cracks, hot & cold water pipes and electrical installations. High thermal and acoustic insulation performance thanks to its excellent bonding and filling characteristics. Perfect assembly and stability feature; could be used for bonding a wide range of construction materials with some exceptions (Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Teflon, silicone, oil etc.) Water and mold resistant. After application, the cured foam can be cut, sanded, painted or plastered. The ideal room temperature for application is 20 C. Box Amount: 12 Pieces/860 gr. 3 Packaging Alternatives: With plastic straw, with Gun or with Safety Valve. Application and Storage Suggestions Shake the can well before use and apply the plastic straw applicator onto the valve. Position the can upside down and press the valve for the foam to come out. Moisten the application area and the foam in order to reduce the curing time and increase the bonding strength. Newly applied foam can be cleaned with acetone or foam cleaner. Cured foam can only be cleaned by mechanical methods. 11
