The original brasses are mismatched and put on upside-down. The original pine top is intact and probably began life painted to simulate marble. Retaining an extraordinary patina.

It is rare to find a dresser made of ash, especially ash with so much figuring in the grain. Raised on four turned front legs. The three drawers with molded fronts.

Constructed of highly figured ash timber throughout, from the two-board top right down to the drawer linings. An absolutely stunning example of rustic furniture. The handles are later.

The wonderfully turned legs ending in bun feet and connected by shaped stretchers. The single frieze drawer with a molded front. Excellent color and patina.

The apron carved with flowers, two sets of initials and the date. Most likely constructed as a marriage token as evidenced by the initials. Exceptionally rich color and patina.

The terrestrial one dated 1831 and labeled G&J Cary, 86 St. James St., London.

13 A PAIR OF 12-INCH TABLE GLOBES BY CARY English, circa maximum diameter, 18 overall height. Raised on the original mahogany turned-leg stands. The celestial globe dated 1816 and labeled J&W Cary, Strand, London. The terrestrial one dated 1831 and labeled G&J Cary, 86 St. James St., London. That they appear to be made at different periods in the Cary family s history is misleading. They were certainly made as a pair. The celestial issue of 1816 remained unchanged for many years, unlike national boundaries which frequently required alteration. In excellent, restored condition.

14 AN OAK WAINSCOT CHAIR ON CABRIOLE LEGS English, circa wide, 19.5 deep, 46 high, seat height. With a shaped and fielded panel back capped by a flat molded edge. A molded edge outlines the seat which has a serpentine shape to the front. The broad arms on turned supports. Very good color.

The beautifully figured walnut top retains a terrific, untouched patina. The well-drawn cabriole legs end in subtly chamfered pad feet. This is a table of great versatility which would stand out as a center table, dining table, sofa table, serving table, etc.

The pushbutton release allows the cupboard door to slide down grooves which are cut into the delicately molded legs. The shaped gallery is pierced with hand-holds. The well-figured timber retains a lovely color and patina.

The dovetails joining the sides to the top are visible on the top of this chest. Instead of being truly graduated, the next-to-bottom drawer is actually a bit deeper than the bottom drawer. The drawer fronts are veneered in gorgeous, highly figured oak and then crossbanded with surprisingly wide strips of walnut. The handles are old replacements. Retaining a spectacular patina. Standing on the original bun feet.

The top also with a thick molding to the edge and just below the edge. The fielded panel cupboard doors are applied with a diamond shape. Great color and patina. The brasses are later.

The rich pink ground is decorated with floral gilding. Each cooler with a pair of gilded handles and the lids with braided and gilded handles. Retaining the original liners. An ebonized and molded slip surrounds the original mercurylined glass which displays a lively crystalline sparkle. This mirror represents a fairly large example of the form. Retaining a terrific color and remaining in excellent condition. Originally surmounted by a cresting.

23 AN AMBOYNA CARD TABLE IN THE MANNER OF SEDDON English, circa wide, 19.5 deep, 39 deep open, 30 high. An unusual mechanism concealed within the frieze pulls the legs inward as the top is rotated 90 degrees in order to open. The playing surface lined with a cranberry baize. The beautiful burl timber retains a warm, golden color. Adorned with gilt enrichments including scrolling lappets above the feet. The form, the leg mechanism, the use of amboyna, and the parcel gilt details are all hallmarks of George Seddon s work.

The two-board top with a molded edge. The turned legs connected by a high, turned front stretcher. The frieze drawer with a molded front. The inside of the drawer lined with 18th Century newspaper. Excellent color and patina.

With outswept arms and reeded front legs. Exceptional quality throughout.

The chestnut, molded-edge top is framed with wide, mitred boards all around. The tapering legs have a molded edge running down the outside corner. With a drawer in each end. Retaining a warm, nutty color and a surface with the various marks typical of a table that has not been re-polished. The unusually great width makes this table ideal for modern dining.
