These are used to secure the float supports to the frame. ( ** ) Triple Coated Deck Screws--- Torx Bit T25 Required. These are used to secure all deck boards to the frame. When installing deck boards please insure that all screws are flush and not recessed into the wood. Having the screws flush insures we can service the docks in future years. ( ***) Spax Powerlags TM --- Generic name is powerlag (Spax is a Menards stocked brand). These screws are a cross between a lag screw and torx decking screw. Commonly used in deck building of decks over 100 sq. ft. We use these for better stability, superior holding, and easy of servicing. No washer is required for these screws. Please purchase screws that are rated for Treated lumber. See sample picture on cover page ( **** ) Galvanized Carriage bolts with washers and nuts. ½ inch are required for strength requirements and ease of bracket installs. Most of these will be installed after the dock section is brought to camp. 1 While building the dock section please ensure the dock frame is square by measuring opposite corners to make sure they are equal in length. 2 All deck boards are spaced ¼ inch (or pencil) width and we recommend trimming the dock deck boards after completion so there are no overhanging boards on any side. A good idea to make deck installation easier is to use one of the float support boards before cutting in half as a guide on one side to keep the boards flush. You may even want to secure the board with a couple of screws to make assembly easier. The dock will have an overhang of a ½ inch on each end to hide the dock hinges (see diagram).

3 3 All fasteners are to be flush with the wood and not counter sunk into the wood. This is for ease of repairs in the future. Screws that sink past the surface of the wood swell after a short period of time and can make removal harder when repairs are needed. It is also recommended that you pre-drill all screw fasteners for ease of install and less wood splitting. 4 Please Don t attach the Lower s. We will install and custom trim the floats to fit when delivered to camp. Upper float boards can be installed so the two dock frames can be assembled as one unit. 5 The carriage bolts are used to secure the to the lower dock section. Please save all extra bolts as they will be used to secure the top section and dock connecting brackets similar to the picture on the front cover. See diagram for more details. As you will also see on the cover page the carriage bolts can only be installed on the lower float section and not on the deck section; this is due to the metal bracket being 6 inches tall. We used 1 (one) Spax screw on each to secure it to the lower section. 6 Dock frames have a total of 4 long boards on top level (2x8) and 3 boards on lower level (2x10). Please center the boards equally to allow room for our floats to be installed. Centering these properly also gives you a uniform and stronger top deck support since it is slightly bigger than a typical 16 inch center. As with the lower section we need to fit 20 inch wide dock floats in an area that makes for a tight fit with the floats being 10 iches tall. That s why we ask the lower float supports not to be installed, so we may trim our foam floats to fit your dock section. 7 The picture of the Dock Brackets is from another camp dock our bracket will have 2-8inch galv. bolts and 4-2 ½ inch galv. bolts.
