10 10 CHOOSE TYPES OF WOOD, GRADING, BEVELS, BRUSHING AND FINISHING TYPES OF WOOD Oak Oak has a yellow to brown colour, with its typical grain. Iroko Iroko planks have a golden colour, with brown straight grain. Walnut Walnut has a warm brown colour which contrasts with the whitish sapwood. Merbau Merbau varies widely from orange towards dark reddish brown. Jatoba Jatoba planks are reddish pink and brown, with straight grain. TYPES OF GRADING Each tree is unique, and different parts of the same tree produce different surface textures and appearances. We have a unique grading system that is easy to understand and transparent. Our fl oors are sorted into two different categories. This is to give you a better idea of how your fl oor will look. For floating installations, we only advise floor heating in combination with the Quick-Step Silent Walk underlay. Using this underlay will stop rising damp or condensation. Open joints during the heating period are almost non existent.
