2 Welcome to a brand new 2019 PRS Season! This year marks a new era of growth and leadership for the PRS and we are eager to incorporate the visions of the PRS shooters, match directors, and sponsors in We have already begun our outreach setting shooter focus groups in motion and listening to match director and sponsor feedback as we embark on the 2019 season. There is work to be done and we are getting after it along with new team members Julie Kay and Jason Redding! The Precision Rifle Series is and will continue to expand as the preeminent precision rifle organization in the world. With shooter and match director input we have made small requested adjustments to both the PRS Pro Series and PRS Regional Series as we strive to maintain competitive excellence and cultivate opportunities for shooters at every level. We are excited about the developments in the series that were inspired by shooter suggestions and reinforced by MD s across the nation. As the new season kicks off we are celebrating the upcoming launch of a newly designed PRS website. Simply put it is phenomenal!! As our dreams and realizations for the PRS are getting bigger and bolder, so is our website with integrated social media and easy to access information. We value performance and a better user experience! We are working everyday to establish and deepen true partnerships with our shooters, match directors, and sponsors and we are whole heartedly devoted to working alongside our partners to deliver a world class Precision Rifle Series organization that accomplishes the following aspirations: The Precision Rifle Series is and will continue to expand as the preeminent precision rifle organization in the world. To promote and grow the sport of competitive precision rifle shooting in a safe, fair, and practical manner for shooters of all skill levels and ages. Promote the Sport: We seek to promote awareness of the sport and our organization to inspire participation in competitive precision rifle shooting. Build a Base: We seek to expand our membership and strengthen the sport at all levels, from grassroots to the best national competitions, in order to engage as many people as possible in the discipline of precision rifle shooting. Expand Connections: We seek to connect and support competitors, MD's and industry leaders across the world through our organizational structure, innovation, and partnerships. The too easy and hard matches have been be addressed by the PRS. There is no statistical evidence of points disparity between regions. (either from top half, top 100 or top 200 ranked shooters) Statistical evidence does show that more of the top 100 shooters compete in Eastern Region. In theory that should slightly raise the average scores and then lower the average scores out west. But the data shows that Its still within a +/- 3% tolerance. 6 The PRS and our sport has matured and grown remarkably the last few years. PRS Matches are numerous and wide spread. As a result, the competitive excellence or success that the PRS seeks in its mission statement has depreciated. With the input of a comprehensive focus group of over 50 PRS shooters and matches directors the PRS will institute a small change that will address the topic. This update will not negatively affect the whole body of shooters, adversely affect match attendance or interfere with the growth and overwhelming success of the 2 day PRS PRO Series. Instead it raises the competitive bar, makes the year more exciting and modernizes our scoring across the board. DURING THE 2019 SEASON, SHOOTERS THAT WANT TO QUALIFY FOR THE FINALE MUST INCLUDE 1 OF THEIR TOP 3 SCORES FROM A PRS FINALE QUALIFIER MATCH. ~12 matches will be identified by the PRS to be sanctioned as a PRS PRO Finale Qualifier match. They will be spread across the country and be partially and pragmatically rotated every year. Shooters may shoot as many of these matches as they like to improve their score. There will be no changes to how many or where the other 2 scores come from. The Qualifier rule will apply to the following divisions: PRO, Tactical, Production, Lady, Junior and Senior. Shooters must be PRS PRO Series Members to shoot qualifier matches. This requires the top shooters in the country to retain at least one match score from a more equal field promoting competitive excellence that the PRS outlines in its mission statement and goals. Shooters who choose not to participate in PRS Qualifier can still compete for year end standings, but will not be invited to the Finale. Finale will still be weighted 60/40. RULES UPDATE: 1) Top 150 PRO shooters will be invited to the finale. 2) Top 10 Tactical shooters will be invited to the finale. 3) Top 5 Production/Junior/Senior/Lady Division shooters will be invited to the finale if not otherwise qualified. 4) Top 3 shooters from the Regional Series for both Open and Regional Elite divisions will be invited to the finale if not otherwise qualified. 5) Top 5 International Shooters will be invited to the Finale. 6) Grace period for membership sign up is set at 1 week after a completed match for that match to count PRS PRO SERIES MEMBERSHIP PRO/TAC/PROD/LADY/SENOIR/INTER- $100 Junior - $50 Memberships include: All scores tracked and ranked on the new PRS website. 7 The PRS and Club Series, much like the PRO Series has matured and exploded remarkably the last few years. That is mainly due the outstanding Regional Directors and Match Directors working in their regions to promote the sport. With that growth comes expected adjustments to maintain competitive excellence or success that the PRS seeks in its miss ion statement. With input from regional directors and the match directors the PRS will institute a small change to ensure we have the competitive benchmarks and more options for the regional shooters and match directors. The updates are minor and we will only add some options, so each region can maintain the direction they see fit and give the shooters the opportunities they seek. Like the PRO Series the update will raises the competitive bar, makes the year more exciting, and modernizes our scoring across the board. 1) SHOOTERS THAT WANT TO QUALIFY FOR THE REGIONAL FINALE MUST INCLUDE 1 OF THEIR TOP 3 SCORES FROM A PRS REGIONAL FINALE QUALIFIER MATCH. Regional Directors in conjunction with their MDs will identify a select number of matches throughout the year to be sanctioned as PRS Regional Finale Qualifier matches. They will be spread across the region with objective consideration to locations and frequency. Shooters may shoot as many of these matches as they like to improve their score. There will be no changes to how many or where the other 2 scores come from. The qualifier rule will apply to the following divisions: Elite, Club, Tactical, MIL/LE, Production, Lady, Junior and Senior. This requires the top shooters to retain at least one match score from a more equal field promoting competitive excellence that the PRS outlines in its mission statement and goals. Shooters who choose not to participate in PRS Regional Qualifier can still compete for year end standings, but will not be invited to the Finale. Regional Finale will be weighted 60/40. (200 points - 40% of the overall score) No PRS membership requirement to shoot in the Regional Qualifiers. 2) CLUB SERIES IS NOW REBRANDED THE REGIONAL SERIES. As expected the regional 1 day format has surpassed the size of the 2 day PRO Series. The one day match format is much more attainable and sustainable for more shooters. To expand and properly organize the growth more options/divisions will be open to the regional one day shooters looking for a higher level of competition while not interfering with the traditional club series format. Classifications will be dropped in because of this addition. 3) REGIONAL SERIES DIVISIONS Elite Shooters that choose to count scores for regional qualifiers only. (change) Open Shooters that choose to count score for the all matches within the region. (no change) Tactical - Shooters that choose to shoot this division under the tactical equipment rules. (add) Production - Shooters that choose to shoots this division under the production equipment rules. (add) Lady/Junior/Senior/MIL/LE self explanatory. (add) RULES UPDATE: 1) 25 shooters minimum rule and one month posted match dates. Divisions do not need be tracked or awarded by clubs during their matches PRS/Season/Finale tracking purposes only. Elite division gives those shooters who want to attend the most competitive matches additional opportunities. Elite division shooters can also compete in the club division simultaneously if they shoot numerous matches throughout the year. Scores can count for multiple divisions as long as the shooter, match and equipment is eligible. Membership required to shoot the Regional Finale and have a PRSprofile.
