1 NATIONAL BANK OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA Pursuant to Article 25 and 47 paragraph 1 item 20 of the Law on the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 158/10, 123/12 and 43/14), the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia Council adopted the following DECISION on the issue and main features of banknotes in denominations of 200 denars and 2000 denars (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 74/15) 1. The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia shall issue banknotes in denominations of 200 denars and 2000 denars as legal tender in the Republic of Macedonia. 2. Banknotes in denominations of 200 denars and 2000 denars will be printed on special paper with white color, with embedded watermark, security window thread with written text "НБРМ" (NBRM), visible and invisible fibers arranged incorrectly that reflect in yellow, green and blue color under the influence of ultraviolet rays and with reinforced edges of all four sides that enable flexibility and resistance to physical damage. The banknotes in denomination of 200 denars shall be printed in dimension of 146 mm in length and 70 mm in width. The banknotes in denomination of 2000 denars shall be printed in dimension of 155 mm in length and 70 mm in width. 3. The banknotes referred to in item 1 of this Decision shall have the following main features: 3.1 Denomination of 200 denars Leitmotif of the obverse of the 200 denar banknote is the representative Early Christian terracotta icon, discovered in Viničko Kale, Vinica, i.e. the relief depictions of the Old-Testament warriors Joshua (Jesus Navin) and Caleb. See-through register - a stylized drawing taken from detail from the well-known luxurious ceramic bowl (hydria) from the 5th century BC shall be applied in the left upper quarter of the banknote, in combination of colors which in overlapping, shall form an external line on the ornament when viewed under light. Underneath, a security element shall be applied that complements the features of the watermark composed of the number "200" and floral element of the facade of the Šarena Džamija, Tetovo. The right angle of the first quarter shall depict the number "200" in height of 18 mm. In the shadow of the number patterns shall be embedded containing the letters "НБРМ" (NBRM) and numbers "200" which shall be repeated. In the back part of the number there shall be patterns in form of stylized vector drawings which shall be repeated and shall form unique shapes made according to details from Early
2 Christian mosaics from the ancient cities Stobi and Heraclea which shall also continue on the right part of the third quarter. The middle upper part of the second quarter of the banknote shall depict a guilloche, decorative element made by precisely combining lines which shall be repeated with fine details, applied to all four sides of the banknote and nominal value of the banknote indicated by the words "двесте денари" (two hundred denars). The mark of recognition designed for the blind shall be printed between the first and the third quarter of the banknote in form of four horizontal triangles. A watermark (star over the play of Joshua and Caleb) shall be embedded on the blank space between the first and the third quarter of the banknote, visible if the banknote is viewed on lit background. On the same side, in the left center field, there is a representation of an early medieval bow bronze fibula from the beginning of the 6th century. Security window thread woven into the paper positioned on the left half of the banknote with a width of 3 mm in which micro text "НБРМ" (NBRM) and the nominal value "200" with numbers shall be repetitively imprinted. When viewed on flat, kinetic lines shall fluoresce red. When the banknote is turned at an angle, kinetic lines shall move and change to green. The right upper angle of the second quarter shall depict text "двесте денари" (two hundred denars) in height of 6 mm. The text "Јошуа и Калеб, теракотна икона, Виница, 6-7 век" (Joshua and Caleb, terracotta icon, Vinica, 6th-7th century) shall be vertically written with small letters in the right angle of the second quarter at the end of the printed part of the banknote. In the left part of the third quarter there is a presentation of a bird taken from the floor mosaic from the Baptistery of the Episcopal Basilica in Stobi. The text that shall mark the place and date of issue of the banknote shall be written with small letters underneath the presentation of the bird, and under that text facsimile signature of the Governor and text "Гувернер" (Governor). In the bottom between the third and the fourth quarter of the banknote micro text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) shall be written. Underneath there is a text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) in height of 4 mm. The right lower angle of the last quarter shall depict the number "200" in height of 6 mm. Leitmotif of the back side of the 200 denar banknote shall be an architectural art element of the front facade of the Šarena (Aladža) Džamija in Tetovo. It is complemented by floral elements taken from the decoration of the marble floor tiles of the famous Ishak Çelebi Mosque in Bitola. In the upper and bottom of the banknote micro text "НБРМ" (NBRM) and "200" shall be applied which shall be repeated on a different background expressed in combination negative and positive with colouring which is aligned with the colors of the banknote. The upper left angle shall depict the number "200" in height of 6 mm. Colored stripe with a metal shine shall be vertically applied in the middle of the first and third quarter, at which the flag of the Republic of Macedonia and figure "200" are visible when tilted. Between the first and second quarter there is a text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) in height of 4 mm. The serial number of the banknote which contains two letters and six numbers
3 shall be printed on the left part of the first and third quarter of the banknote in a vertical position, and in the fourth quarter of the banknote in a horizontal position. On the left part of the second quarter there shall be patterns in form of stylized vector drawings which shall be repeated and shall form unique shapes made according to details from Early Christian mosaics from Stobi and Heraclea which shall also continue on the fourth quarter. The text "Шарена Џамија, детаљ од фасада, Тетово, 15 век" (Šarena Džamija, detail of facade, Tetovo, 15th century) shall be written in the middle of the upper part of the second quarter. A grid-pattern composed of white lines facing a different angle shall be applied in the right part of the second quarter. See-through register - a stylized drawing taken from detail from the well-known luxurious ceramic bowl (hydria) from the 5th century BC shall be applied in the right upper part of the second quarter. A stylized drawing, floral element from the decoration of the marble floor tiles of the famous Ishak Çelebi Mosque in Bitola shall be applied in the middle left and right part of the banknote, which when folding the banknote, shall form a complete picture. The lower left angle of the third quarter shall depict text "двесте денари" (two hundred denars) in height of 6 mm. The left angle of the fourth quarter shall depict the number "200" in height of 18 mm. In the shadow of the numbers patterns shall be embedded containing the letters "НБРМ" (NBRM) and numbers "200" which shall be repeated. On the first and third quarter of the banknote, an element composed of floral details shall be integrated, that under UV light shall be changed in two visually striking and easily recognizable colors. 3.2 Denomination of 2000 denars Leitmotif of the obverse of the 2000 denar banknote is the presentation of Macedonian bridal costume from Prilep Field as a striking reflection of the richness of the folklore heritage of the Republic of Macedonia. On the same side, in the left center field, there is a presentation of a pendant in form of poppy cup which shall represent an artifact dated in the 7th century BC. See-through register - a stylized drawing based on a detail from an Early Christian mosaic from Stobi shall be applied in the left upper quarter of the banknote, in combination of colors which in overlapping, shall form an external line on the ornament when viewed under light. Underneath, a security element shall be applied that complements the features of the watermark composed of number "2000" and neolithic clay seal discovered in the archaeological site Govrlevo, Skopje. The right angle of the first quarter shall depict the number "2000" in height of 18 mm. In the shadow of the number patterns shall be embedded containing the letters "НБРМ" (NBRM) and numbers "2000" which shall be repeated. In the back part of the numbers there shall be patterns in form of stylized vector drawings which shall be repeated and shall form unique shapes made according to details from Early Christian mosaics from Stobi and Heraclea and details of national costumes which shall also continue on the remaining three quarters of the banknote. The middle upper part of the second quarter of the banknote shall depict a guilloche, decorative element made by precisely combining lines which shall be repeated with fine details, applied to all four sides of the banknote and nominal value of the banknote indicated by the words "две илјади денари" (two thousand denars). The mark of recognition designed for the blind shall be printed between the first and the third quarter of the banknote in form of three horizontal rectangles. A watermark (the image of the girl with bridal costume) shall be embedded on the
4 blank space between the first and the third quarter of the banknote, visible if the banknote is viewed on lit background. On the same side, in the left center field, there is presentation of a pendant in form of poppy cup which shall represent an artifact dated from the 7th century BC. Security window thread woven into the paper positioned on the left half of the banknote in form of a braid composed of two stripes with a width of 4 mm in which the micro text "НБРМ" (NBRM) and the nominal value "2000" shall be repetitively imprinted. When viewed on flat, kinetic lines shall fluoresce red. When the banknote is turned at an angle, kinetic lines shall move and change to green. The right upper angle of the second quarter shall depict text "две илјади денари" (two thousand denars) in height of 6 mm. A metal buckle (bridal belt decoration) shall be presented in the left part of the third quarter from the village Velgošti, Ohrid, 19th century. The text that shall mark the place and date of issue of the banknote shall be written with small letters underneath the presentation of the metal buckle, and under that text facsimile signature of the Governor and text "Гувернер" (Governor). In the bottom between the third and the fourth quarter of the banknote micro text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) shall be written. Underneath there is a text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) in height of 4 mm. The right lower angle of the last quarter shall depict the number "2000" in height of 6 mm. The text "Невестинска носија, Прилепско Поле, 19 век" (Bridal costume, Prilep Field, 19th century) shall be vertically written with small letters in the right angle of the fourth quarter at the end of the printed part of the banknote. In the left part of the second quarter, a security element shall be applied whose template shall be the averse presentation of ancient Macedonian coin from the 2nd century BC. In this element, depending on the angle of viewing, it shall appear a ring around the central part, which shall change the position and color creating a three-dimensional effect. Leitmotif of the reverse of the 2000 denar banknote is the decoration of the inside of a gilded vessel, which originates from the 16th century and whose central field shows two affronted peacocks (birds of paradise) near the "source of life" surrounded by lavish floral decoration. In the upper and bottom of the banknote micro text "НБРМ" (NBRM) and "2000" shall be applied which shall be repeated on a different background expressed in combination negative and positive with colouring which is aligned with the colors of the banknote. The upper left angle shall depict the number "2000" in height of 6 mm. Colored stripe with metal shine shall be vertically applied in the middle of the first and third quarter, at which the flag of the Republic of Macedonia and figure "2000" are visible when tilted. Between the first and second quarter there is a text "Народна банка на Република Македонија" (National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia) in height of 4 mm. The serial number of the banknote which contains two letters and seven numbers shall be printed on the left part of the first and third quarter of the banknote in a vertical position, and in the fourth quarter of the banknote in a horizontal position.
5 On the left part of the second quarter there shall be patterns in form of stylized vector drawings which shall be repeated and shall form unique shapes made according to details from Early Christian mosaics from Stobi and Heraclea which shall also continue on the fourth quarter. The text "Сад, сребро со позлата, Скопје, 16 век" (Vessel, silver plating, Skopje, 16th century) shall be written in the middle of the upper part of the second quarter. A grid-pattern composed of white lines facing a different angle shall be applied in the right part of the second quarter. See-through register - a stylized drawing based on a detail from mosaic from Stobi shall be applied in the right upper part of the second quarter. A stylized drawing, floral detail from the decoration of the inside of a gilded vessel shall be applied in the middle left and right part of the banknote, which when folding the banknote, shall form a complete picture. The lower left angle of the third quarter shall depict text "две илјади денари" (two thousand denars) in height of 6 mm. The left angle of the fourth quarter shall depict the number "2000" in height of 18 mm. In the shadow of the numbers patterns shall be embedded containing the letters "НБРМ" (NBRM) and numbers "2000" which shall be repeated. On the back side of the banknote, an element - display of two birds shall be integrated, that under UV light shall be changed in two visually striking and easily recognizable colors. 4. This Decision shall enter into force on the eighth day from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia. D.
