2 ASSESSMENT 2: PRACTICAL PROJECT 2 - SHORT FILM THE BRIEF: In groups of 3-4 you are to script, storyboard and produce a 3 5 minute short film, utilising one of the following key topics given below. For this project each member of your group will submit their own version of the short film. This means that every member of the group must edit the film individually and in their own way. Choose one of the following topics: Obsession Identity The topic/theme must be apparent in your final work. Although you are given a key topic to incorporate into your video project, decisions such as genre, subject matter etc. is for you and your group to decide upon. PRESENTATION: Your completed work must be submitted on a DVD containing: Full High Definition (HD) version of your Short Film (1080p 25fps) Standard Definition (SD) version of your Short Film, playable on a standard DVD player (544p 25fps) Script in.pdf format Storyboard in.pdf format NOTE: As this is a group project the work must be distributed evenly. Where it is evident that one student has completed more of the work, marks will be adjusted accordingly. 3 PROCESS HOW TO BEGIN: WEEK 10: Decide on your group Brainstorm ideas using the focus themes and create a list of possible video projects Decide on the theme and concept for your short film Begin outlining the story WEEK 11: Script your short film (using the Celtx software) Storyboard your short film (including shot types / audio / camera movement) WEEK 12: SHOOTING YOUR FILM: Obtain permissions for filming (you CANNOT film anyone without their express permission!) Shoot your project according to the script and storyboard (shoot everything at least twice for quality and protection! e.g. WS / MS / CU) WEEK 13-15: EDITING: Download and review your footage and choose your best shots Sequence your film in Premiere Pro Add audio (music / sound effects / narration?) Add any required special effects (titles / effects) in Adobe After Effects Review your film and discuss the progress with your group and teacher WEEK 16: PRESENTATION: Prepare your DVD for burning (using idvd) Burn and check your DVD
