2 Raindance Film Festival Raindance Film Festival invites UK and International producers and filmmakers to submit their films to its 27 th edition that will take place from 18th September to 29 th September 2019 in central London. The Raindance Film Festival aims to show the very best in new cinema from the UK and around the world and specialises in first-time directors and discovery. Vibe Productions would like you to a production for 2019 entry. Your production must be completed and submitted by Friday 1 st March The Festival accepts feature films (over 45 min.), short films (under 45 min.), music videos (under 6 min) Documentary, Animation and web series. Projects of all lengths and genres are welcomed and the Raindance Film Festival is committed to showing the boldest and most innovative work, and films that challenge the boundaries of filmmaking. 3 The Fine Print You must each produce your own video using the following guidelines: You must originate and produce your own idea Musts not suggest any drug use Must not contain any unnecessary / excessive bad language Documentation Prior to shooting your production, you should submit the following: Planning may differ depending on production Planning o Shooting Script o Storyboard o Location Recces for ALL locations o Call Sheet o Props / costume / equipment o Clearances / permissions Raindance Film Festival will be taking mise-en-scene, editing, camera work and appropriateness to the genre all into consideration when deciding on their award winners. Make it original and creative, don t just stick to the norm.

4 Grading Criteria Unit aim: Develop students abilities to critically analyse and integrate, knowledge and understanding acquired in previous units and to investigate the specific skills and attributes required for creative production and technology in visual-based media platforms. Learning Outcomes 1. Be able to analyse a visualbased problem in creative media production. 2. Be able to use an integrated approach to visual-based creative media problem solving and production. 3. Be able to evaluate solutions to a visual-based problem in creative media production. Tasks Writing a brief and research Planning and production Evaluation

5 LO1 Research: 1. Analyse 2 examples of productions from your genre. You need to research into the locations used, props, costume, narrative and shot types. This research will be written directly onto your webpage with supporting videos and screenshots. 2. Primary and secondary research into codes and conventions of your medium (music video / short film / stop motion etc.) - This should include focus groups, surveys, social media questionnaires - All secondary research must be fully Harvard Referenced 3. Physical practice examples of codes and conventions uploaded to your page and their success analysed

6 LO2 Planning and Production: The Raindance Film Festival will be selecting the winning production based on the following elements: 1. Mise-en-scene 2. Camera angles and shots 3. Use of correct lighting 4. Locations used 5. Professional pre-production Prior to shooting your production, you need to plan it to ensure its success. Complete the pre-production booklet in as much detail as possible as this will help you to produce as professional a product as possible. It will make your more time efficient when filming and will ensure you move the camera more effectively. Your pre-production should include the following (some may vary dependent on production) Production Schedule Script / Shooting Script Storyboard Props List Crew List Location Recces Clearances and Confirmations Contingency Plan We would like you to avoid using the green screen if possible. You may only use it based on our approval and with us checking thorough planning beforehand. A good video should be shot in a well-chosen location and not rely on using our studio. In the past, students who have sought a proper location, have had much greater success with their videos it is worth the extra effort!

7 LO3 Weekly Journal: As with previous units, you should be continuing to complete weekly journal entries - evaluating, analysing and highlighting areas for improvement. It is extremely important that these are completed as you work and not just at the end. Please remember to take photos as you film and screenshots as you edit.
