1 School of Creative Media Indicative Submission Checklist for Animation Production Introduction This check list is an indicative reference for students who want to create animation as their final year project or any major studio based project. Details of each component and deliverables are required to be consulted and confirmed with your tutor to determine ones that are appropriate to you. Please refer to the following outline to draft out a project proposal for your tutor s approval. After getting comment and feedback from tutor, you are required to re-write and consolidate a fine tuned version as the Deliverable#1: Project Proposal. Deliverable#1: Project Proposal (Submission Format: MS Word / Adobe PDF; Due date: within the first three weeks) Finalized project proposal must be approved by your tutor. It will act as a binding contract between you and the tutor. Project deliverables outlined in the finalized proposal must be delivered by the final submission deadline. This is the First Draft of your creative research. Your project proposal should include the following: Intended audience or users: who will use/view/read/experience the design? Potential client (if applicable): who will initiate/fund/disseminate the project and why? Mood Board: Style, Tone & Manner Project deliverables: the items that you will design and produce. Provide justifications for these. Project schedule, listing every stage of your design process and target dates. 2 Deliverable#2: Log & Reflection Reports (Blog) + Sketch Book(s) (Submission Format: On-Line blog and physical sketch book(s)) For creative development, brainstorming, continue assessment and communication, student is required to write log and weekly reflection reports to record and reflect their progress and development through the use of personal blog and physical sketch book(s). Deliverable#3: Pre-production Outcomes (Submission Format: Adobe PDF and the associated digital media files on DVD; Due date: to be confirmed with tutor) Pre-production is a creative research, development and evaluation stage. We are required to fine tune and consolidate the similar set of outcome as stated in project proposal, and generate the associated creative writings, design, and pre-visualization for further approval. With multiple passes of thought, re-design, re-write and re-visualization, this set of deliverable contains the n th generation of the pre-production outcomes. Once it is approved, it will be used for referencing and continue revision during production. Preferred digital media for animation submission: Apple QuickTime Movie o Compression: Photo JPEG 75%; o Sound Track: LPCM Stereo, 16bits, 48KHz; o Time Base: 24 frames per second; o Resolution: HD x 702 / HD x 1080; o With Clipper and Title at the beginning; Credits and copyright at the end Package ( DVD / BluRay Box Set) Deliverable#5: Project Report (Submission Format: Adobe PDF and the associated digital media files on DVD; Due date: End of project) This report should document the entire production process, integrating images, text and diagrams, etc. This should be well organized and edited in a logical and easily comprehensible manner. This deliverable contains the Final Draft of your creative research outcome. This might be presented in the final presentation as well as the Grad Show or public exhibition. Display Panel (Submission Format: A1/A0 size, colour print out mounted with foam board: Due date: After the end of project) Title & Subtitle of your project A simple diagram to describe the different stages of your entire project (i.e. your design/production process) Challenge(s) of your project (short paragraph or list) Reflections / Self-appraisal Optional: subtext, visual explorations like mind map or mood board, highlights of research result, image of target audience and insights achieved etc.) Please note that this is made to be shown in an exhibition setting. Considerations must be made for optimum legibility, hierarchy and content structure. The text must be simply written for this purpose so that the viewer can quickly and easily understand the premise of your project.
