Y6 have had a brilliant week and really pushed themselves to do things they ve not done before. They made lots of memories and had a fantastic time. A heartfelt thank you you to all the staff involved in the organisation and the week itself at Edgmond Hall. without their commitment and dedication, none of this would have happened. THANK YOU!

They are available from the school Office at 3.25 for the standard tie / 4.25 for the clip-on tie. You can also purchase these at the Summer Fayre and Meet the Teacher Evening.

ARTEFACT: Mace Head Where was it found? Bush Barrow is a round barrow, an artificial mound constructed over one or more burials. A large number of barrows were constructed on the summit of ridges overlooking Stonehenge. Bush Barrow is one of fifty in the Normanton Down barrow cemetery. Round barrows focus on the burial of an individual and so mark a change from the long barrows of the earlier Stone Age, which were usually the burial place of a whole community. What features suggest it was made by humans? Why do you think the shaft or handle of the object is missing? What do you think it is made of? What do you think it could have been used for?

This week Year 1 have been making improvements on their book Mrs Armitage s roller skates, drawing their designs and then writing about them. In Maths they have been learning how to measure liquid and capacity using millilitres and litres and in Art they have been drawing detailed images of the different types of planes through the ages in order to junk-model their own next week. This week in Year 2 the children have been solving a range of problems involving fractions, time and the four operations. They have been showing their working out in a number of different ways to demonstrate their understanding. In English the children have been writing a fact-file on school life in the Victorian era. They have researched facts and used their knowledge from their trip to the Black Country Museum. This week, Year 3 have completed their diary writing about pirates. They have enjoyed learning all about life on board a ship through drama to help inspire their written work. They have been identifying a range of plants in the school grounds as part of their science work and this has inspired some exciting art work. We have consolidated our place value and number work ready for Year 4 in Maths and have started learning about how our garden grows and where our food comes from in Geography. On Tuesday, our classroom carpet had some mysterious shapes appear... we had to work out the perimeter using rulers and meter sticks. We have written our own adventure story in English, where our character finds a magic crayon which allows whatever they draw to come alive. We have looked at vertebrates and invertebrates in Science and we looked in our forest area to see if we could identify any. Year 5 have enjoyed a fantastic visit to Kidzania this week, where they have got to experience a range of careers. The have enjoyed role play as a firefighter, midwife, university student, shopkeeper, doctor and many more besides. The children s minds have been opened to many possibilities for their future careers. Year 6 have had a fantastic week at Edgmond Hall with many memories made. The children made us all proud with their excellent behaviour, teamwork and have a go attitude. We hope they all enjoy a relaxing weekend before coming back to school on Monday when it will be step in line for their rehearsals of Mary Poppins.

YEAR 1 How many different ways can you make 20p? YEAR 2 Can you create a science investigation to carry out at home? YEAR 3 Can you explain what perimeter is? YEAR 4 What is the value of the 6 in this number? 52,652. Explain how you know. YEAR 5 Which countries in Europe were allies in World War II? YEAR 6 What are your favourite memories from Edgmond Hall? Do you know all the words for Mary Poppins? - No scripts next week! A quick and healthy midweek all-in-one dinner preparation and cooking takes about an hour. You will need: 300g baking potatoes, washed and cubed, or new potatoes, cut in half, 4 or 5 courgettes sliced, 4 chicken breasts, a box of cherry tomatoes, 2 medium onions cut into wedges, a handful of green beans, 1 lemon, a splash of olive oil, 200ml. stock. You could change the mix of vegetables or add more. Set the oven to 200C fan or Gas mark 6/7. Boil the potatoes for 5 minutes and drain. Put the potatoes, courgettes, beans and onion into a roasting tin. Put the chicken pieces between 2 pieces of cling film and bash them until about 1 cm. thick; they can now be placed on top of the vegetables with the tomatoes scattered on top. Sprinkle over the zest of the lemon and olive oil and cook for about minutes, until the chicken is cooked through but still tender. Pour over the stock and lemon juice and return to the oven for 5 more minutes. 2W & 4B 100% Well done!
