11 instructions and teaching notes In this game for 3-6 players, students compete to make the scariest film title, or to sabotage other people s film titles. It is a light hearted and fun game. Students will work on their vocabulary using a card game that allows them to experiment with word order and effective word choice. Students have to put the words into a sensible order, even if the subject of their film is far from sensible. The film titles created can also become writing prompts. It makes a good session starter. You will need: cards (pages 1-10), laminated and cut out. Coins or tokens (below). Rules You are trying to make the name of a really scary horror film Each player is dealt five cards per round. Players take it in turns to put down a card. They can 1. Try to make the scariest film title (for most points) by putting a card in front of themselves or 2. Try to sabotage someone else s film by putting down something not at all scary in front of them (losing them points). When you are ready, you can finish your film. This will stop anyone adding any negative words, but means you can t add any more. Finish your film by putting a token on the last card. A finished film must have at least a monster and a description (e.g. Scary Robot, Ninja Squirrel), but can have more. When all players have finished at least one film, the round ends. You can keep one film going into the next round, as long as you finish one. You need a to add another monster If you have a in your film, you must have an extra monster for each (eg Vampire and Werewolf; Bear and Tiger vs Alien) You can add the word the at any point so it makes sense. The winner is the first person to make 20,000 points Tokens (or use counters or coins) April Kindly contributed by Karen Duncan, Stapleford Skills for Employment, Nottinghamshire County Council.
