Introduction Merlin! a soldier yelled, as he ran breathless up the stairs. The enemy army has arrived at our front gate! 5 P a g e Please be quiet! Merlin said. Sorry sir. the soldier said, humbling himself, still catching his breath. Merlin sighed. Please, hold them off as best as you can. Merlin said, approving his own answer. Yes sir! the young soldier said. The soldier turned and went toward the stairs. Oh yes, and keep yourself alive. Merlin said, as the soldier started down the spiral stone stairs. The soldier stopped and turned. I ll try my best, sir. the soldier said, approvingly. With that the soldier went down the stairs. Merlin knew this day would come, the day he would have to decide if humans were worthy to use magic ever again. He had to make his decision in haste because the enemy army was gaining control over his castle. His haste probably made the choice, more than he did. Since Merlin was human also, his judgment might

have leaned toward the humans, making this choice inevitable. He knew humans would forget about magic. Science seemed easier, more powerful, and it seemed like it was for everyone. Science was new, making it mysterious, drawing people to it. Merlin didn't like science, because it seemed like there were no clear boundaries, making it fake. So Merlin used his life to send the last of the magic into outer space. The magic would only return when the time was right. This made 800 AD the time when magic left the earth. In 2222 AD a global war broke out that put a dent in the earth. It slowed down the technology of the world. The destruction sent us back about two hundred years. Of course humans never learn their lesson and another global war broke out in 3000 AD. The war in 3000 A.D. was the most devastating war known to man. With the combination of chemical and nuclear weaponry, it almost destroyed the world. The war deformed humans and animals, making new species and a hard life. This war made the earth a giant junkyard leaving very little for life to re-grow. The year 3000 war was called the Apocalypse War. All the countries were involved in this war because all the rules were being broken. With nuclear weapons going off, all countries joined a side. There were four 6 P a g e

different sides to this war, there was: The Allies (The side fighting for their own well-being.), The Rebels (Who were supposedly fighting for equal materials for everyone.), The Radicalists (Wanting everyone to die out except themselves.), and finally The Outlaws (People who didn t care about the war, but were hired to do jobs for all the sides.). There was no clear good guy in the war Apocalypse. During the war the Allies and Rebels allied and fled to the moon, to keep their size and strength. This made the moon our new home, along with Mars and Europa. The Radicalists still attack the Allies today, but location unknown? 7 P a g e

Chapter 1 The Lab In the year 3022, in a cold hard place lies a living body, a rare body; a body that has observed and felt horrible things while wearing a torn old elemental resistant suit, where torture resumed. The story of this body begins in the year 3000 in which this living body was born of an Alliance mother, and from a distant father known as an Outlaw. This living body had a hard beginning in this world. His mother was killed before reaching an evacuation ship that was bound for the Moon in This body and his mother were trying to escape the covert apocalypse of Earth known as the Apocalypse War. Alone this rare body made it to a colony on the moon. This body was taken from life as people know it. Trained and tortured, this body grew from being young. The beings that tortured this body were known as soldiers and scientists. They had lost the name of this child until The torturers gave his name back; this living body s name is Lucas. Lucas was taught many things, while the scientists studied his progress through tests. He was given gravity wings, to be the prototype of the super soldier. The scientists were to study the limits of human existence, using him and other living bodies. As well as testing the gravity wings. Many bodies came and died in 8 P a g e

the lab that held Lucas. He survived by being good at what he did and by taking the torture with his mind. With the information given to Lucas, he was able to develop a self. There was one of the torturers that was known as Major Ace Falger. Ace was at the lab as a messenger and showed up from time to time. Ace treated projects such as Lucas like a disposable luxury. Ace took care of all his feelings, by inflicting damage on these special projects of bodies. Ace would push Lucas s pain threshold to the max. By maxing out exposure to elements like electricity, just to see Lucas squirm. Now the extent of Lucas's education was limited, but they had to teach him things so the tests would be accurate for him to be an average opponent. He had some reading ability before they got him. Lucas was mostly self-taught. He would dream and use a pretty powerful imagination to create tactics and a love of religious books, given to him because they were thought to be illogical by his torturers. He found himself in these books; he found the strength to cope, if you could call anything coping. Torture came and torture went for days, months, years, and finally it earned Lucas some beyond deserved respect. They had tried to kill him repeatedly, with tests against dozens of soldiers, while every time Lucas would come out on top with no kills and dozens of inflicted injuries upon his opponents. 9 P a g e

Lucas learned to use his wings to cut out objects from material found in rooms and even from the walls themselves. He liked cutting out a shield shaped object out of walls, as well as tables and desks when available. Lucas was able to beat the test soldiers by using his well harnessed agility, and the intelligence to pin point the biggest advantage to nail a soldier. Confusion was his favorite weapon, by throwing soldiers into other soldiers and disrupting the order of operations, were some of his very few enjoyments. As well as these tests, they also had endurance tests that would test the limits of existence such as extreme climate changes and conscious duration tests against new and old technology. These tests were carried out in rooms that were designed to hold a specific elements power, usually constructed in metal with energy shields and other means of protection to the outside of the room. Lucas survived radiation poisoning, as well as other poisonings, when other bodies did not. Science couldn t explain what he was becoming. This made Lucas too valuable to kill. They wanted to implant control over him, but he resisted. The torturer s bosses wanted a soldier they could trust or at least subdue into doing jobs. Lucas was the envy of the elite generals that couldn t be trusted. So the generals allowed lighter tests to continue. 10 P a g e

Life on the moon for the soldiers and the civilians was easy; the technology was high end, space age. The problem was that most of the technology was used for the wars. So exploration was sent to the back of priorities as wars took most of the funds. Exploration was limited, so there were only a couple dozen explorations sadly. The majority of the explorations were armed; for a mixed priority exploration. Alien life was a fact, although human exposure was limited to this life. From humans being too caught up in their own quarrels and priorities, seeing as war continued. Currently in the year 3022, occasionally there are attacks directed at the Allies on the moon that persisted from the Apocalypse War, from the Jupiter area. These attacks are from the remaining Radicalists of the Apocalypse War. The attacks were only occasional and were obviously not large scale attacks, just well-targeted small scale attacks. The claims of the Allies were that these attacks targeted civilian installations. Although it was only the word of the military, no one questioned how evil the Radicalists were. People knew the story behind them. How the Radicalists were considered terrorists due to their driven desire to destroy the human race or at least the majority of the human race. The Radicalists were marked by their deeds and ignored, except by small scale rumors and hip slang that rooted against the Radicalists. 11 P a g e

One day while this body known as Lucas was lying in his cell, cold and alone. There was an explosion from the outside that cut out the power to Lucas s electric cell and made a hole to the outside, to the moon s surface, at the corner of Lucas s cell! This caused a vortex, so Lucas quickly cut the bench off the wall in his cell and tossed the bench into the vortex causing a temporary fix! Lucas quickly stepped out of his cell and faced his torturers! The scientists ran from Lucas, and yelled He s out! but they were not allowed to live that day. Lucas ended the scientist s terror. Ace Falger managed to avoid this confrontation. That day in this horrible place there were only scientists and light infantry. Lucas decided that he must do away with these so called scientists, so they wouldn t torture others. When Lucas got out, he hovered over to the two guards and grabbed two rail pistols from the light infantry! The infantry tried to fire at Lucas, but Lucas used his metal gravity wings to shield himself from the fire of the infantry s pistols! Then the guards were beaten till they were unconscious! Lucas liked to dual wield the rail pistols and opened fire on the defenseless scientists as the scientists ran from him continuing to say He s out! and A project has escaped! They call Lucas, Project 0088 and some of the scientists had time to yell what project 12 P a g e

it was that had escaped. After they re death, Lucas took the clearance cards from the scientists. Now one would think security from the rest of the base would come to the scientist's alarm, but the loss of most of the power caused a rupture of communications. So Lucas was able to let the other Projects have a chance to escape. He armed the ones that could fight and gave them direction to work together, and told them that he would find them a ship to escape on. The projects consisted of some criminal's, but others were just wrongfully accused soldiers to civilians. They all wore the same element resistant suit that was a light gray. After they were adjusted to work as a team. They opened the secure doors to the halls that led to the other facilities. The entire population of the base thought that they were under attack from an outside Radicalist attack, due to the blast that hit Lucas's cell and other areas on the base. So the soldiers of this base were too preoccupied with external affairs to notice a task force of escaped Projects, fighting through the halls of the ally base toward the hangar. It was as if the allies wouldn t believe the Projects could escape. Lucas took the point of this task force, so he would be the first one around corners and through doors. Lucas used this as a way to sneak up on 13 P a g e

preoccupied soldiers and would knock them out when the opportunity presented itself. Lucas led the Projects inch by inch to the hangar. Lucas was doing what he was best at, taking out enemies. Lucas and some of the other Projects learned how to fight from the tests, which were pressed upon them. The task force of Projects acted like elites. They would take cover and reload at different times to keep constant fire. The projects ran like a well-oiled machine; smooth and aggressive. After this group took out all that were in their way, the projects finally made it to the hangar. The projects now needed a ship big enough to house the projects as well as have enough food to last maybe even a couple years. It was easy to find a ship. They saw a large Cruiser space ship outside the hangar through a window that was connected by a space corridor. They moved up to this cruiser to see if it was ready to take off, and to see what they needed. They watched all directions for enemies as they approached the Cruiser and went in to see if it was ready to take off. This ship was so big; it was bigger than most buildings or domes. This ship was prepped and ready for takeoff, but Lucas and the rest of the projects realized they needed clearance cards to takeoff. 14 P a g e

So Lucas said to his comrades, I ll go get the clearance cards to take off. You few guard this ship. The projects agreed and Lucas went off to go get the clearance cards. Lucas decided stealth would be the best tactic for this transaction. Lucas went to one of the knocked out guards that he had silenced and stole the clothes that one of them were wearing. In disguise, he looks at the signs and starts to follow them to the headquarters. Lucas went down corridor after corridor passing armed soldiers as he continued to the headquarters. When he saw armed soldiers he would tell them that ships fired upon the base to give his comrades help, so the soldiers would be preoccupied. One might think how would someone with metal wings be disguised? Lucas s wings fold into a foot by foot metal plate that is imbedded in his back. So the guards had little reason to question Lucas. Finally, Lucas entered the headquarters area and bypassed all the secured doors with the laboratory cards. He saw the general s office area and knew the clearance cards would be here. Lucas was cautious, because he knew the generals could identify him. He pulled out his rail pistols and was prepared to kill any generals on duty. Lucas looked for an unlocked door and got ready to open fire. After he tried pushing a couple buttons for the doors to see that they were locked, he finally pushed a button and the door opened! 15 P a g e

There was a pause as Lucas looked into the eyes of his paper pushing torturer and opened fire upon the assailant! The general tried to get up and talk to Lucas but it was too late, he was shot and dying. The general fell back into his chair and the chair fell over backwards with the general in it, the general lay there dead, with pooling blood all over the floor! As the general laid there dead, Lucas looked through the general s desk in his suite of an office. Lucas tried to access the computer files the general had on his computer. The clearance cards that Lucas obtained from the general and the scientists only opened files that pertained to that base. Besides finding the clearance cards he wanted search patterns used by the allies, so they might be able to survive undetected. It took him a while to access files with their search patterns in them, due to Lucas not having a lot of experience with computers. He found some search patterns for locating Radicalists in reference to moon attacks. That was exactly what he needed, it was just enough to get an idea of how to avoid the Allies. Since Lucas had minor exposure to computers it took him a little too long to get what he needed. Lucas put the information on two energy flash disks, and headed out. Lucas hoped that he hadn t taken too long, and that his comrades were at least holding their ground. 16 P a g e

Lucas was aware of the chaos that engulfed the base and decided to run, presuming that this was normal behavior for when alarms went off. Again, he went down corridor after corridor to get back to the hangar with the clearance cards in hand and the search patterns. Lucas was impatient with his thoughts and longed to get away from this hell that held him for so long. As he approached the hangar area, he could hear gunfire and was happy to hear, at least that! As Lucas approached the allies firing upon his comrades, he realized there was no easy way to get back to the ship. The allies were firing from multiple directions, and he didn t want to use his wings as a shield because it wouldn t protect him from every direction. If Lucas blocked the sides his back would be open to injury, there were just too many of them. He figured it was getting close to the end of the fight so Lucas threw the clearance cards and one of the flash disks at one of his comrades. The items hit one of the projects scaring him thinking he was hit by some shot! The project quickly regained his composure and saw what had hit him. The project yelled to his comrades and they all retreated into the cruiser except one. This project was easily seen as one of the better combatants among the projects, and he stayed out in hopes of giving Lucas a chance to come aboard. In seeing that it would be too risky Lucas 17 P a g e

decided to make himself noticed to his fellow project, and confidently waved him off. 18 P a g e
