23 Across the world, the most popular radio is live radio. It makes sense to broadcast this - not use a one-to-one connection over the internet

24 Broadcasting reaches more people in more places: in their home, at their work, in their car and in their pocket.

25 For the mass-market, broadcasting is more cost-effective and more efficient - for listeners and content providers - than any other way of reaching audiences

26 Broadcasting is also more reliable. Radio transmitters reach more people more of the time - there's no bandwidth problems at the football game or the music festival. Broadcast radio keeps working through emergencies, too. Broadcast radio just works: no matter how many people are tuned-in

27 So - why do we need digital radio? After all, FM sounds just fine, and it works well, so why do we need to change? Well, in all areas of the media, there are changes happening. People are asking for more

52 Digital Radio works much better in-car than internet-delivered radio, and DAB+ has been available as an add-on to any car for many years.

53 Recent DAB+ adaptors allow more options - the in car entertainment system to be retained, but for digital radio to be added simply and quickly.

59 In the UK, Absolute Radio has launched a set of additional radio stations on DAB using brand extensions to earn more revenue - launching more radio stations to broaden its output and increase its audience. It has seen significant increases in listening hours, audience and in revenue as a result.
