INTRODUCTION This report describes the tests and measurements performed for the purpose of determining compliance with the specification. The client selected the test sample. SETUPS AND PROCEDURES Standard The sample was tested in accordance with EN , Amendment 1: Methods and Procedures The measurement methods and procedures used were as follows: Test set up Testing was performed on the PLT V model of the product family. All models covered by this report are electrically identical with the 240V model determined to be worst case. The device is a hydro-powered turbine that produces a DC output that is either connected to an inverter or a battery bank in normal operation. The device uses a flow of water, such as that provided by a stream, to spin the turbine to generate DC power. A 3-phase induction motor was used to drive the turbine which produced an output of 220 Vdc. The output voltage was then connected to a resistive heating element that was placed in a container of water. Page 9 of 16 Test Report No th July 2013

10 Description of Radiated Emissions Test Set-up Radiated emissions testing was carried out over the frequency range of 30.0 to 1000 MHz at the laboratory s open area test site - located at 670 Kawakawa Orere Rd, RD5, Papakura, New Zealand (Note: Site conforms to the requirements of CISPR 16, Part 1, Clause 16, and ANSI C ). Before testing was carried out, a receiver self calibration was undertaken. Additionally, a check of all connecting cables and programmed antenna factors was carried out. The device was placed on the test tabletop, which was a total of 0.8 m above the test site ground plane. Measurements of the radiated field were made with the antenna located at a 3 m horizontal distance from the boundary of the devices under test. Testing was carried out in the various modes in which the device operated. Any external cables were orientated for the worst-case emissions level. The front face of the device was facing the test aerial at the zero degree position. Testing is carried out by scanning between 30 MHz and 1000 MHz in 100 khz steps while aurally and visually monitoring for emissions. A Quasi Peak detector was used with a bandwidth of 120 khz. When an emission is located, it is positively identified and its maximum level is found by rotating the automated turntable, and by varying the antenna height with an automated antenna tower. The emission is measured in both vertical and horizontal antenna polarisations. During the test, a number of ambient emissions are identified (list of which can be provided upon request). 11 Description of Conducted Emissions Load Port Test Method Conducted emissions testing was carried out over the frequency range of 150 khz to 30 MHz on the output dc load terminals using a high impedance probe Testing was carried out at the laboratory s MacKelvie Street premises in a 2.4 m x 2.4 m x 2.4 m screened room. The DUT was placed 0.8 m away from the artificial mains terminal network on the emissions test table which is 1 m x 1.5 m. The test table is 0.8 m above the screened room floor which acts as the horizontal ground plane and is 0.4 m away from the screened room wall which acts as the vertical ground plane. Testing was carried out while an output voltage of 220 Vdc was being generated, with the probe being placed on the positive and then negative output terminals. A probe correction factor of + 16 db was applied to the raw results and has been included in the attached plots. The load terminal limits as described in EN have been applied.
