7 System Design Solution: Site survey performed to determine best placement for repeater radios Transmit only radios utilized on each skid to lower costs Ethernet IP Gateway radio used to directly interface with PLC 900MHz system used so it would not affect other existing wireless systems installed 8

11 Other Wireless Mining Applications Dragline Boom Monitoring Capital expenses in down time prompted installation of radios for preventative maintenance and avoidance of catastrophic failures. Radios put in place of flexible cables to monitor vibration on motor/gearbox, hoist motor/gearbox, swingline motor, etc. Using I/O radios alarm data was sent instantaneously to the cab. Conveyor Bearing Alarms Battery powered I/O radios installed along high maintenance areas on the conveyor to measure roller bearing temperatures. Values transmitted back to PLC s periodically acting as an independent backup for conveyor safety trip and sectional interlocking. Video Monitoring & Alarms for Ore Dumping Near misses at an ore dumping prompted installation of video cameras & I/O alarming systems. Monitors were installed in the cabs to allow the drivers to monitor the area during ore transfers and alarms if another vehicle was in the area. 12
